Default Bargnani looking like an all-star

Quote:
The emergence of Andrea Bargnani continues.

Bargnani led the Raptors in the squad’s 111-99 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds.

For the first time in his career, Bargnani has grabbed seven or more rebounds in four consecutive games and people on both sides of the floor are taking notice.

“He’s playing like an all-star, he’s our franchise player,” said Amir Johnson, the other starting big man who shone with a 14-point, nine-rebound effort on perfect shooting from the field and the line.

“He comes in and does his thing and hopefully it continues for him.”

Thunder forward Jeff Green also spoke highly of Bargnani.

“They’re good, athletic (and) they’ve got a very good player in Bargnani,” Green said.

Bargnani set the tone for the Raptors, scoring 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in the first quarter.

He also rebounded from a horrid second quarter with excellent play in the third and fourth quarters.

What I like the most Carp is that the whole team seems to really respect him now and it hasn't seemed like that for the last few years.

Your teamates respect you when you start demanding the ball and delivering..

He was in Bosh's shadow...

Wouldnt it be fan-fucking-tastic if Bargs made the All-star game and Bosh didnt

This team does seem to respect him... and I like that there isn't a NA/International rift happening. It's about basketball and good basketball too.

The Bargs haters have definitely been quiet over the last few days...
Maybe when we claimed reggie was cutting into his rebound numbers; we were actually on to something. And maybe when I say that cb playing alongside Bargs inflated boshs rebounding numbers also, I could be right.

Well, there's no denying that he's playing up to his capabilities lately. This as fans is all we ask of him and now that he's doing it, it should come as no surprise to the people that were slagging him when he wasn't doing it. I don't think anyone HATES him or wants to really HATE him around here, we just want him to do what he should be doing as an offensively skilled BIG MAN.

the problem isn't that you hate on him for a few bad games, it's that you assume he can't improve. It's that you harp on him being the only problem on this team. That this negative schtick is carried on endlessly, only to remain as an unending and pervasive stereotype about his play. In a season like this, we should be patient and allow for players to grow together and individually.... not waiting for the next bad game and jumping all over AB as if he hasn't shown improvement.

last year i felt like this team was all about Bosh and then everyone else. bargnani's now our go-to guy sure, but i feel a team dynamic with this group of guys that i never felt with a bosh-led offense. it seems like he's established some chemistry and a certain level of respect with the boys that i don't think Bosh was ever able to develop.

Totally agree, for all we know Bosh created the great divide in the dressing room and I wouldn't be too sure to say Jack didn't help him.

I'll say it again, people like to say that Bosh was the reason we made the playoffs and were competitive... I say Bosh was the reason we weren't competitive enough and were always a mediocre team. Bosh gets way too much credit, IMO he's the reason we sucked for so long.

has this season been pretty good and enjoyable so far? For sure IMO.

hmm... why is that? i'd say good young, exciting ball. Good efforts for the most part. and say what you will, but Bargnani has been our best player.

He's not an MVP type player, but he's pretty damn good.

Lets be fair in our criticisms of Bargnani. For the most part he has stunk on defence. It was nice seeing him attack the offensive glass yesterday, he played with an aggressiveness that hasn't been there all season. But if he doesn't do a better job defending the rim we still won't be able to hang with any team with length. Bargs is between a C and a PF - and until this team gets a C or he learns how to bring strong side help Raps will struggle to be a .500 team

I have zero criticism about his offense though'.

And you quote me every time I talk negatively about him, get over it.
