Thumbs up Bargnani Looking Great In Camp

Only been a day, but according to Doug Bargs is looking smooth when working on his post moves. Albeit with no one defending him, but nevertheless is apparently looking alot more confident and Smith feels like he's got a great chance to make an impact this season.

Good on ya Bargs and just another step closer for my next serving of crow.

And, I swear to whatever deity you want, he looked good.

Drop steps. Spin moves. Left-handed jump hooks. Fadeaways.

Seriously.

Now, he was being guarded by ghosts and empty space but, I tell you, the kid looked comfortable. No idea if that possibly translates into success when there are other players on the court and the game’s at full speed but if it does, he’s got a chance to make an impact this season.

It's getting harder to wait with the good vibrations on JON's defense and Bargs improvement. I hope I can watch the preseason games

Any word on if aRapsFan4eva is going to be providing his services again this season for games to be watched online? I haven't seen nor heard from the guy in ages.

I just sent him a email .... I'll keep you posted if I hear back from him.

So ya, back on topic here ...... Bargs is ready to "shake & bake" in the post this season. But can he do it on the Amare's, D12's and co.?

if Bargs is working on his post moves its almost a certainty that he wont be playing the the SF spot.
so i guess that rumour can get thrown out the window.

Right now, think that not, in a season or two, it can happen IMO.

He has to learn how to take advantage over those guys, Bargs is heavier or taller or quicker than the most big men, so he would have some chance IF he plays well AND he knows his opponent's strong and weak points.

Hi Guys!

Great to hear about Andrea

I think/hope this will be his year and he will show why we picked him as No 1

We need his shooting, versality and passing skills to be a true contender for the top 3 in th east

Have a great day

The only real concern that i have with Bargnani is when and where are we going to see him on the court. I figure he's going to be the principle backup for the PF and most probably C position. I guess the good thing is that he likely will be facing other teams' backups - but are we ever going to see him get significant time in important parts of the games?

SJ, why do you doubt his offensive abilities in the post?

Both Howard and Amare are shorter than him and weigh about the same. Assuming (and that's a lot to assume), he perfects hook shots and turnaround short jumpers around the basket (a la Hakeem), what can they possibly do to stop him there? You can't block 7-footer's sky hook.

It's more like this, I just don't buy into the hype.

He was bad last year, he was hurt and sick, but how good would he have been? Not bad, thats about it.

I think in another 2-3 years he'll be a real good player, I just don't expect the Moon just yet, thats all Mike.

He has looked woeful in the post, hopeless. Three weeks of drills doesn't change that, a couple of seasons might though.

i don't know why people get so caught up in positions

the spurs used to play robinson, duncan, and purdue on the floor at the same time. pretty sure that they used that as their starting line-up for a good stretch of the season as well. hell, the suns used to play rex champman at power forward when they played small ball. positions don't matter when you're causing teams to adjust. we'd be crazy not to use those three together on a semi-regular basis. teams wouldn't know how to defend us, especially if Bargs becomes nearly as consistent as Bosh from the mid-range. zone on the defensive end and force teams to take low percentage shots, it'd be tough trying to get in close with three 7fters protecting the basket.

Good point ... If throwing in JO, CB4 and Andrea on the floor will disrupt the opposite team game than this is a good plan to follow.

Well, I've been an opponent of Bargs in the wing, but if it's Bosh whom you'd use to cover the opponent's SF on defence, then I am willing to give it a shot.

In short, my problem is Bargs on defence at SF.

Understood, agreed. I'd rather he learned faster, though.
