Bargnani for Jeff Green? would you do it?

i know a lot of people have suggested this prior to green being traded to the celtics....but would you pull this trade, given you need to pay him about the same as bargs is making now?

and after watching him struggle(iam being nice) on both ends of the floor for a good team....would you still consider it?

i personally think both of these guys can use a change of scenery....

jeffb 05-06-2011 02:20 PM

In a heartbeat. Can anyone imagine Bargnani playing with KG? :laughing1:

powerfulpanda 05-06-2011 02:25 PM

no brainer!!!

poetics 05-06-2011 02:33 PM

if this went down, this hypothetical trade would be the 2nd worst in raptors history, next to VC for the Williams dudes and no show alonso

Boston would be stupid to do this. Which is why it wouldn't happen. But I'd fly to Italy to make sure that lazy ass got on a plane to boston to asure this would go through.

It depends on what sort of contract Green wants. He's a free agent this year, so he can't be traded unless a) he signs an extension first or b) he signs+trades in July. He'll probably demand a contract of greater length and value than Bargnani.

If the trade could be done now, I would jump all over it. But the odds are you are taking on extra years of salary in this move, for a guy who might not help all that much more than Bargs anyway. I vote no.

DanH 05-06-2011 02:45 PM

Oops - double post.

MARTYNAS 05-06-2011 02:48 PM

But whats the point to have Jeff Green? Another SF-PF.

So you think he gets much more then 4yrs/40Mil? And imo he'd help more then Bargnani, especially if we can either sign or trade for a real Center.

We have one now? Other then Kleiza, who won't be back until december apparently. And here, unless there are injury problems at the 4 he'd be our SF.

Don Vito 05-06-2011 02:53 PM

Sure but hes a free agent, how does that work? What if he dips and signs with another team?

fancylad 05-06-2011 02:59 PM

the funny thing is that Bargnani on a team as deep and as stacked as the Celtics would look absolutely awesome. You have players there that would mask his deficiencies and he can focus on doing what he does best (which is score), but also know that he wouldn't be needed to score as much there as he does here. I tells ya, he would come out looking GOLDEN. and we on the flip side would come out looking not so good.

yep...and i dont think most people here have watch too many celtic's games...

i've watch almost every celtics game this season, including after he was traded....and he has looked awful....and if you go around celtic's boards, the fans will let you know as well....

that being said, if i were BC, i would at least consider it...

fk24 05-06-2011 03:16 PM

Would be a good deal but we'd have too many bench SF's.

powerfulpanda 05-06-2011 03:17 PM

i would be happy if we just cut ties with bargnani and get nothing in return. let him be another teams problem. but to get jeff green back in return? toooooooooo sweet

So they trade away Perkins, then go after a softy like Bargnani? Man I wish, but they wouldn't be that stupid.

INSIDER 05-06-2011 03:23 PM

nope.
i am all for trading Bargs, but the trade would have to be something that we would benifit from... and this would seem like a trade that people would agree to just for the sake of trading Bargs away.
Green is looking horrible on the Celt's. his game has dropped off considerably from last season. Bargs needs to go, but we would not improve in any way with Green on the team. we need to get either a C or a PG for bargs, not a wing thats a dime a dozen.

fancylad 05-06-2011 03:25 PM

the thing that people need to realize is that Bargnani is NOT the guy that puts the team on his back or step up like some strong force when the rest of the team isn't able. Which is exactly what we have here in Toronto. This team sucks. The talent level is low and the experience and 'bossness' is low. These guys wilt under pressure and just can't compete with the big boys. Andrea is just another guy - albeit with more skill.

You put Bargnani on a team full of bosses... and he will KILL IT.

Plus, he's used to playing on a young team that likes to run the floor more. He's on an old slow team right now and I don't think he fits. Doesn't mean that all of a sudden he sucks. I think that on a team like ours he would thrive.
