Quite the opposite IMO.

Better to pick top 5, then to barely miss out on the playoffs. In the long run, it will pay dividends.

The Toronto Sun is speculating that Bargnani could return on Saturday or Sunday, but adds that he's unlikely to play on consecutive nights at first.

I'm sure it's been healed for a while now. Why risk reinjuring it when we suck bad, and him comming back will only make the team better which is yet another negative. I would make sure that the calf was 300% healed and conditioned before before he even steps foot on the court. All we need is a naggin injury like calderons 3 year long hamstring deal.

Absolutely. Muscle injuries can linger and are a strong risk to re-aggravate.

read between the lines ...
it's called smart tanking
if the doctor says he can't play consecutive games, what can the team do, we can't disobey the medical expert

He’s getting close,” Raptors coach Dwane Casey said on Wednesday morning. “He’s back on the court with the team. I’m getting excited a little bit. He’s still a few days away.”

Bargnani missed six games in mid-January because of the initial flare-up of the injury. He returned for two games, but re-injured himself in an overtime win in Utah on Jan. 25. The Raptors are 6-7 with Bargnani in the lineup and 6-19 without him.

Casey said he would be cautious with Bargnani’s return. If he is sore from back-to-back practices on Thursday and Friday, Bargnani will not play on Saturday in Detroit. Following that, the Raptors host the Bucks on Sunday before starting a five-game road trip next Tuesday in Cleveland.

some all star numbers right there, and had it not been for DD recent jump, it would be even more noticeable. Love ya bargs!

"Bargnani is apparently targeting Sunday's game against the Bucks as his return game."

Rotoworld

Sooooo we finaly have a return date set!

Next 4 games are winnable, Detroit (without Bargn), then we get AB back for the Bucks, Cavs and NJ...

Tank in jeopardy?

Tank is over! Since the all-star break we're 3-3......and in our 3 losses we lost by 3,3,4. Betcha we end up with 20+ wins if Bargnani stays relatively healthy the rest of the way.

Are you ok with that? I would love a top pick, but if we can sign a guy like Nash, and trade for a SF, we aren't that far off.

Tank over the only hope is that he comes back a bit off for his first 4-5 games, just to add a few more losses to our total.

Bargnani - Mar. 8, 2012 - YouTube" target="_blank">Andrea Bargnani - Mar. 8, 2012 - YouTube

Andrea Bargnani (calf) participated in a full practice Thursday.
It's Bargnani's first full practice since severely aggravating his calf sprain on Jan. 25. The Raptors will see how his body responds tomorrow before deciding if they'll activate him for Saturday's game against the Pistons. Coach Dwane Casey hinted that Bargnani will be eased in slowly at first, but the former No. 1 overall pick will eventually ramp back up to his usual 33-36 minute role. He's confirmed that he's 100 percent pain-free
