Rotoworld says:

"Andrea Bargnani's MRI (calf) revealed no structural damage but there is no timetable for his return.
Bargnani hurt his calf again on Wednesday and didn't return to the game. After missing six straight games with a previous calf strain, the Raptors definitely won't rush him back into action.
We probably won't see him for at least six games, and there is a chance it could be longer than that. Linas Kleiza, Amir Johnson and James Johnson all stand to benefit with extra minutes in his continued absence from the lineup."

It's amazing isn't it? If this team doesn't choke in Orlando and Dallas, imagine our record with AB in the lineup...

I wanna see him back at some point this year, it's tough watching Ed Davis and Moving screen Amir.

Anyone else hear Casey almost blurt out a forecast?

"It's us against the world for the rest of the y....er for as long as Andrea is out". ha-haaaaa!

Just a simple Freudian slip or unexpressed insider knowlege that the 6 game layoff is going to look small compared to this one?

But seriously, how can they let him rush back now? To win 16 games instread of 10?

I'll def check that sound clip, but yikes the thing is with "indefinite" you don't really know anything. Wish there was a better prognosis, but there isn't

#Raptors @AndreaBargnani will not travel with the team to Boston. He will remain in Toronto for treatment.

@Paul__Jones
honestly not sure. Early 2 say he's down 4 year & I think next home stand is 2 early. Not the Dr. but somewhere in between

Andrea Bargnani (calf) remains out indefinitely.
The Raptors had no real update on Bargnani Thursday. He's not known to be doing any running and has missed 10 of the last 12 games. There's no reason to think Bargnani is near a return.

Bargnani still not running for Toronto: Toronto C Andrea Bargnani told the Toronto Sun he has yet to run on his injured left calf since re-injuring the muscle two weeks ago in a win over Utah. Bargnani said his calf is improving, but he still has plenty of time before he can come back.
(Updated 02/07/2012)
Injury Report
Calf - Out until at least mid-February

The Toronto Raptors are anxiously awaiting the return of team-leader Andrea Bargnani, but according to Raptors General Manager Bryan Colangelo he will remain sidelined for an "extended period", reported by the Globe and Mail.

Feb 9th 2012

I'm thinking probably late Feb, or after the All star break.
-------

National Post

It would not be a surprise if he sat out until the all-star break, two weeks from now, although that is just an extrapolation of head coach Dwane Casey’s comments.

“His timeframe is extended, whether it is two weeks or three weeks, whatever it is,” Casey said Thursday afternoon after the team’s practice. “We’re not putting a day on it. Extended is beyond day to day, I think.

Is it sinking in?

With a throw-away season, a positive in rising in the draft, and precious little to use as solid building blocks, this is going to be a loooong layoff. As this team goes currently, he's the franchise guy.

Try and picture this team turning it around and making a run for the playoffs next year while Bargnani is in and out of the lineup like fat Shaq past his prime. Not happening.

I even think 2 or 3 weeks is too short a projection because he came back when he was "ready" before so now he's going to have to be perfect and beyond.

Keep him out. I think BC is holding him out as long as he can, I wouldn't be surprised if Bargs is healthier then we've been led to believe.

Well first time around he missed 2 weeks, and second time around he said it was worse and he would be out longer. Its been 2 weeks so far, and based on the timeline , returning after the allstar break would be a month, so double the time for a more serious calf injury.

You really think BC would hold him out to better our draft position? As bad as we are there are still 3-4 teams who have been worse and will remain below us. Were not bad enough even without Andrea to be dead last or second last at seasons end.

Not so much holding him out to lose, but because there is no urgency that would require taking that risk. If this were round 3 of the playoffs, they'd have to figure ou if he could be in there soon.

But to take a risk to go from a .300 win percentage to .400 for the rest of the year?

Next year is THE year, B.C.s contract is up, more money, 2 lottery picks join the team, hopefully a ball handling, defending free agent. They are not going to waste any bullets right now.

i guess BC have no choice now rather than Tank him until he is really "ready"

if he can keep his first come back and play through this 7 home game run then Raptors still have a chance to hunt playoff ...which didn't happen.

the worst part for a team run is when some key player back forth and so does Bargnani...we basically have no chance to catch up this season so why bather hurry him back.

IMO BC have no choice now only to let young guns run and see who will be keeper.

i actually doesn't give a Damn shit to this year's draft since we wouldn't get TOP 5 doesn't matter how many games we will lost

Andre Bargnani has missed eight consecutive games with a strained left calf muscle. His return is still unknown.

“His timeframe is extended, whether it is two weeks or three weeks, whatever it is,” coach Dwane Casey said Thursday. “We’re not putting a day on it. Extended is beyond day to day, I think.

“We’re not [spending] each day waiting on him. … He’s back when he’s back. That’s the same message we gave to the team. We’re not going to rush him back. We need him back. But we’re not going to rush him.”

Bargnani was averaging career highs in points, rebounds, field goal percentage and free throw attempts.

Andrea Bargnani has been rehabilitating his strained calf by performing non-weight-bearing exercises in a swimming pool.

He did a lot of pool work trying to get his calf going, coach Dwane Casey. Hes working hard on it every day. I think were going to try to step it up in the next week or so to get more of a weight-bearing load on it. But theres still no time table as far as what day hes getting back or if hes going to come back before all-star game.

Its more running in the pool. Alex [McKechnie, Raptors director of sports science] has him doing all of these exercises with different types of weights.
