I dunno. He's a bit like bosh. Or has CB4, raptor bosh, like numbers when he's the main guy. Before Melo got there the dude was putting up like 28 and 12 or something.. He's all-star material. He proved he was worth the max during his play with the knicks (till Melo got there). but remember the last 'good till Melo got there' player we acquired? Maybe Melo was never the issue, maybe it was the coach. Maybe it WAS coincidentally all the players around Melo.. I'd doubt that.
We're in a win now mode, so he would fit the bill... the guy doesn't have a bad attitude. Makes him a vet I'd prefer... But I doubt he'd want to play here.

He goes on to write that the offer never made it to the Raptors because Knicks chairman James Dolan shot it down, but that according to team officials, Toronto “would not have made the deal anyway.”

The story is bunk; they never made a real offer, period.

Wasnt this when Dantoni was still the head coach, or was he fired by then?

I don't think he would work under Woodson.

To - NY AB, Fields & Gray

To - TO Stoudimire

Bargs has had his best games in NY I can see why they might be interested

For those who believe Bargs contract is bad, Amare's is worse. Because of his reconstructed knee and other injuries, Amare's massive contract is not insurable if he gets injured. Under no circumstance should the raps consider trading for Amare. He has skills but as a result of injuries, he is essentially done as an elite player.

If the raps were to trade Bargs for Amare then this would be the type of deal that'd be best as getting rid of Fields and Gray's contracts wouldn't be bad.

I was trying to think of who's might be worse, but all things considered, Amare's takes the cake. especially since NY doesnt need him at all, and his health question marks.

DD is averaging around the same numbers that JJ is.... while earning HALF the money.

For a max player JJ is horrendously overpaid. Only avgd 25/gm ONCE in his entire career. When I look at max SGs/SFs I look at guys like Kobe... Wade.... Harden.... Pierce... Melo... Durant... Lebron....

Does JJ fit in with any of those guys?

As for NYK.... they need more than Melo if they're going to remain a top team. Amare would give them some depth when it comes to scoring since they seem to struggle badly when Melo's not there.

Not debating that the dude isn't a risk.... but as long as he's healthy (and in shape) he's still a pretty good player.

Forget Toronto, according to the NY Times, he was shopped almost everywhere for "FREE".

Quote:
This past summer, the Knicks offered Stoudemire to nearly every team in the league — “available for free,” as one rival executive put it. But they found no takers because of his diminished production, his health and his contract, which has three years and $65 million remaining (counting this season) and which is uninsured against a career-ending knee injury. In February, the Knicks wanted to send Stoudemire to Toronto in a deal for Andrea Bargnani, a person briefed on the discussion said. But the proposal was vetoed by James L. Dolan, the Garden chairman, before it ever reached the Raptors (who would not have made the deal anyway, team officials there said). New York Times
If you guys seriously want to trade Bargnani for Stoudemire, without taking any of their young assets in return (Shumpert, Copeland), you're crazy. That would definitely have to be a precondition for me to enter into negotiations. If his career ended in year 2, not only are we cap fucked as it is, but his contract is "uninsured," against a career ending knee injury.

+1 to alllll of that. Trust me I LOVED Amare when the Knicks were his team for that half season. He was a fuckin' boss. I would live with that easily with his max contract. But those days are gone. His health and his inability to adapt with Melo has made his contract stand out too much. Let's see how he does when he plays with this team though.
