just for the record, a tpe is not something you trade. it is just flexibility that allows you to absorb contract in certain kinds of trade.

so eitehr you use it in a trade or you renounce it to free up space for a free agent signing. eitehr way, it converts to what we would need it for.

Are you arguing with yourself? 'Cause I thought you didn't like the move...

And trading pick (or anything at all) for Ray Allen, who is a FA this summer, is nuts and impossible, in that order.

deal was weak and boring and really makes no difference at all in the end.
then wtf are you bitching about?? never seen so much blather from guy after a text book, routine contract dump.

DanH has laid it out early in this thread, after he did the JackalKings should have closed this down. Grange was right, anyone not seeing this as a good move isn't fit to be around power tools.

Honestly man... You guys talk like NBA GM's are fucking messageboard rookies. It's fucking unbelievable.

im not advocating trading for ray allen, it was meant as an example for what Boston did.

and what the fuck are you talking about?

i said it was a stupid move, lateral at best and pointless to make.

It was done to make it look like bc was working, thats all.

Now as fans we get to watch a worse product on the floor for the remainder of the season and beleive all this "flexibilty" shit thats getting thrown around now.

i'll be the first to eat my words if this deal actually leads to ANYTHING of value down the road. but i'm not gonna skip my lunch on that.

im not bitching, im stating what should be a very obvious observation that this move really doesnt improve the future prospects of this club at all.

wow tpe that can be used a bit before free agency period. anyone really think that is gonna make a big difference? really?

a low second round pick.

and in regards to a higher pick the guy has a per 48 winshare of only .49. so playing without him you are realisticly looking at like maybe 2 less wins over the final 20 games than if he was still on the team.

I am not going to spell it out again.

i'll summarize it as it was pointless, and now for the rest of the year its going to be an even worse product on the court, and the move has solidly let every player in the nba now knows we've given up.

Great thing to teach our young guys.

just shuter down, maybe we can get the third pick instead of the 4th

you could basically say the same thing about your series of posts on this matter. not a big deal, and nothing to get worked up over. he created some flexibility in the short term, got rid of an irrelevant guy in the short term, and made no impact on the medium to long term at all. lateral or not, if i am a gm going in to an off-season full of unknowns, i want as much flexibility as i can reasionably have.

so what's the fuss? it seems like a 2-day criticism just to make it look like snooch was posting, that's all.

out of nowhere post.

dude - please show me where i said you can't discuss this. all i did was to ask why it is such a big deal for you. you spent 2 days railing against this trade. go ahead and discuss it until you are blue in the face, not a problem for me. but why should i be prevented from asking you a question?

I think it would be hillarious if two things happen:

1-BC pulls off a decent draft day trade in which he absorbs a contract that required a bit of Barbossa's cap space before July 1.

2-Later in the summer BC re-signs Barbossa to a smaller deal.

Interestingly, the latter, IMHO, is more probable than the former.

I agree. I'd find it pretty funny if it happened. We'd lose nothing. It would be like the Pacers just rented Barbs for a few months.

But I can understand why BC would at least want the ability to do more on draft day if the right opportunity presents itself. There may be a situation where our pick is involved in a trade and the other team wants the deal done on draft day.
