bad, now no money to spend, so unless a trade, roster is basically set for next season. Mo improvements at all.

About 15Mil dollars seems ok to me. But yeah I was kind of hoping he'd decline his option. :(

1 - there might still be a chunk of cap space. We just don't know what Bryan can do with that space until the CBA is settled. The space might amount to something significant, or it might not. And it might not even be the right time to use it. But it would be nice to have the ability to use Barbossa's money to go after somebody who fits better long term, if an opportunity presented itself, like signing Afflalo to an offer sheet or something like that.

2 - I don't like Barbossa taking shots away from other players who will be here past next season. Sometimes he gets tunnel vision. He can be a really solid boost off the bench, but, in my opinion, he is more valuable on a contending team who is looking for depth.

This might not be that bad if a trade was worked out. I'm not sure what the Raps would get for him. Exchanging expirings with a contender, while also netting a late 1st round pick, might be nice. Probably wishful thinking.

Surprise surprise. There was no way he was passing that option up xD

Well the owners just proposed a 62Mil hardcap, don't we now have 45Mil commited? You would have to assume the cap would be 62-65Mil considering the players won't ask for less then what's already been proposed.

kinda figured he would stay.

What about his wrist?

Right. That could rule out any trade possibility, yet he might still come back and take away SHATS!

Work out a deal to get Kemba :cookie:

Both sides have also expressed interest in renegotiating Barbosa's contract into a longer deal.

Its better than him signing a multi-year deal. And now that he's an expiring contract he's a very nice trading piece.

Shifty.py 06-25-2011 05:27 PM

Why? Why you want him traded?
You think there are no takers? Name a better 6th man whos on the market? And remember, Crawford is old.

31 is old now? :cwm34:

highonpsi 06-25-2011 05:38 PM

Good to have him back. He showed me that he has a lot more versatility than he showed in Phoenix.

tettays 06-25-2011 05:54 PM

Barbosa may take a lot of shots but if I remember correctly he's the only guy aside from DeRozan who can get into the paint. I'd rather keep him than add new faces this year. I wanna see what Casey can do with this roster.

My lineups would be

Bayless/Calderon
DeRozan/Barbosa
JJ/Weems (Kleiza when he's healthy)
Davis/Andrea
Amir/Dorsey/Alabi

Not too deep...a LOT of minutes for the youngsters....Andrea where he belongs...Jose where he belongs...Defensive starting unit...and more importantly, the 2nd unit where Andrea is killing opposing 2nd units.

think about it...Andrea will score easily against guys like Jason and Jarron Collins, Magloire, Leon Powe, Desagana Diop
plus his poor defense will not matter against these chumps.

Don Vito 06-25-2011 05:54 PM

YESSSSSSS. Barbosa is the reason we won most of our games this season. You will NOT find a better 6th man than Barbosa, he is the right fit for this team.
