Default Avery Bradley or DeMar

Now, I could've made this about Bradley or Davis (same draft year), but I decided to bring the comparison between these two guys.

Bradley was considered a good defender out of college. Played for a college program that stresses defense. However, who would you rather have.

Bradley or DeMar?

Quote:
"He's as good as anybody on the ball in the league, period," said Miami coach Erik Spoelstra. "He can guard baseline to baseline. He has incredible lateral quickness, as good as anybody I've seen. His energy and his toughness remind me of when we had Anthony Carter. He could impact the game with his on-ball defense at multiple positions."

While Bradley's defense got him on the floor, it's the evolution of his all-around game that has kept him there. Bradley has always been quick off the dribble and a sharp, lightning quick cutter off the ball. But coming out of college, his jump shot was suspect.

"So much of [the problem] was balance, just getting his feet under him, getting his feet set so he could elevate on his shot," Barnes said. "He didn't always put the ball in his sweet spot all the time. He would lean forward on the shot or lean back. But correcting that stuff is just about reps and you knew he would do that."

Indeed, Bradley is a worker. When Bradley, the No. 19 pick in the 2010 draft, was demoted to the D-League last season, he matched a league record with nine steals in a game. When he was recalled to Boston, Bradley vowed to be more aggressive. In one of his first practices back Bradley drove baseline and dunked on Kendrick Perkins.

"That was a big moment," Bradley said. "I think everyone knew then that I was here to play."

I love the defense and the versatility in the backcourt. I'd love to see Demar with him actually, playing some SF. I think they'd fit well together.

I remember a group of people around here really advocating for him during the 2010 draft. I know some people wanted Bledsoe, too, but I seem to remember a couple of people really wanting Bradley.

Bradley is the better player because you could put him on any team and he could contribute as either a starting PG with a ball dominant SG (Kobe, Wade, etc). He can be a stopper off the bench too. DD although he puts up great #s, has been hand fed his entire time in the league. He gets a lot of usage because of the lack of talent on this team. DD still can't defend, rebound, shoot from distance, pass, handle the ball, etc.

Saw him play last night and he seemed to force a lot of plays, looked like Bayless a little

yep. i was one of them. Bradley is already an elite defender and a real difference maker. i dont know if i can say the same about demar. Brady struggles at times on the offensive end but his defense more than makes up for it because hes not hurting the team imo.

a better comparison would be demar vs jrue holiday. i would take jrue over demar any day of the week, especially considering the way this team is constructed. that year there were rumblings of us possibly pricking jrue, because he looked really good during team workouts. it would have been a reach but definitely plausible.

I would've been really happy with Bradley, as I was especially sensitive to Jose's defensive challenges at the time. However, I was nervous about his ability to play as a point guard. Despite the gloss put on by the article above, Bradley is still largely a defensive specialist, much like he was in college. I'd be glad to have him, but I certainly am not convinced that he can be a better player than DeRozan.

I'd love him as a guy that could be used in a variety of ways. He could start at the 2 as a shutdown defender in the right lineup. Or he could come off the bench at the one or two, and shut any opposing guards down. And there's still room for him to get better offensively.
