that's how it works in the NFL

not sure about the NBA, i assume so, or maybe do another lottery based on the rankings from this season? that's the only two options i could see.

They would probably roll the dice again with the same rankings as from this season.

A lockout would probably work out better for the Raptors than for most teams, because I doubt the Raptors will be getting a better pick next year if the season is played.

It depends on how Kanter and Valanciunas do in their workouts. That, more than anything, is what will determine where those two get drafted. It gives teams a better idea as to where they rank in comparison to college players.

They both have top 10 potential if they do well.

They both also have the potential to slip.

QED
So you are telling me an 18 year old who can only pick n' roll, who has been said to have no ability to push people off the block is worth our pick. One that maybe a top three and for sure a top 5. Lets use this asset wisely and not tie ourselves up with a 3 deal for something we don't need or want, shit we already have Alabi. Not to mention he won't be ready for at least another two years.

One of my friends once made a very good observation about rookie NBA bigs.

"I can tell as soon as they step on the floor if they're going to be good or not. If they're 7 feet tall and they're not an oaf then they'll be good. Araujo won't be good."

It makes a lot of sense. There just aren't that many 7 footers in this world. Well coordinated 7 footers are even rarer.

Valanciunas I like a lot because he's got really good hand eye coordination, and he's a genuine athlete (and he's 7 feet tall).

He's taking his game in the right direction to be a center that excels at rebounding and shot blocking. His offense isn't terrible, either, because he's got really nice hands around the rim and he can hit his free throws.

Also, he's shown rapid improvement in his skill set and physique, which speaks to a good competitive drive and work ethic.

For what I look for in a center prospect he checks all the boxes.

The only thing I worry about with him is how long it will take for him to be a solid contributor at the NBA level.

You just described Amir Johnson.

Yes, people like that can be productive in the NBA. A low post game isn't necessary, it's a bonus.

I'll actually like to try and see if the Raps can get Oden but that seems very unlikely. Who knows maybe offering our first rounder this year could make them budge
Lol that would be the dumbest thing ever to do for oden...

why on earth would we offer our first round pick for Oden?

i don't even know if i'd do it for Bynum based on all his knee injuries, no way in hell would i part with a top 5 pick for Oden.. maybe if it brought us back Batum, though

You have to do it for Bynum... but Oden is foolish.
