Default Attention BC: Game Plan for NBA Free Agent Circus-Patience

The Free Agent Picture is getting clear. Paul Pierce, Joe Johnson, Rudy Gay, Salmons will be staying with their original teams. It looks like Amare Stoudemire will be signing with New York. All these teams (NY, NJ, Chicago, Miami, Clippers) who have made room for cap space to sign 2 or 3 max players will be scrambling for players. What happens if Lebron decides to stay in Cleveland, then it will be a real circus. I say wait, let Lebron and Wade sign first, and let the losers from Lebron and Wade Sweepstakes move up the price for Bosh. If Chicago loses, maybe they throw Noah in the sign & trade. Maybe New jersey offers up the same trade proposal they made to New Orleans for Paul. Maybe a team with no cap space like Houston decides to include Aaron Brooks in a sign & trade. Message to BC: let the smoke clear and get the best deal out there.

Nothing will happen with Bosh before Lebron signs anyway. Nothing new here. Wade will stay in Miami and will get Bosh or Boozer. Bosh controls when something gets done, not BC.

Umm, It's not up to BC to do anything with Bosh.... Bosh will pick the team he wants to go to whenever he wants to go. He could come today and say he wants to go to the Heat. Why would Bosh care if Houston is offering Aaron Brooks in a sign and trade if Bosh wants to go to Miami?

Its true that Bosh has control. Its was mentioned in the John Hollinger chat today on ESPN that Bosh will not sign with a team unless its a sign & trade which means he isn't giving up the $30 million dollars. If Chicago, NJ, NY loses out on Lebron and if Boozer ends up in Miami, it puts alot of pressure on them to put a better package to get a player like Bosh. Let BC and Henry Thomas work together by getting Bosh his max contract, and getting the Raptors the best package for the sign & trade.

Why would Bosh decide he wants to go to Miami if they already picked up Boozer for his PF position? Pat Riley won't commit a max deal to Bosh and then go behind his back to sign Boozer. Bosh will pick a team for a max deal and go there whether or not we give him a S and T for a full max.

If Bosh didn't care so much what team he was going to and just wanted to get a full max deal, then he would just stay in Toronto.

Dude, do you know the rules regarding a max deal. Toronto can give one additional year and higher incremantal increases per year than any other NBA team which amounts to 30 million dollars. Like I said, Bosh isn't sacrificing the $30 million dollars by signing to another team outright. It is Bosh's best interest to work with Toronto to get the max deal, and giving Toronto a bit more leverage when the free agent picture gets more clear.

Dude...Notice how i wrote "max" from Miami and "full max" from Toronto in a S and T.

So if Bosh doesn't get to go to Miami and play with Wade like he wants to now because for some reason they sign boozer first, why would he want to go to NY or NJ? Why offer him a S and T at all if that's all he's interested in?

Again "If Bosh didn't care so much what team he was going to and just wanted to get a full max deal, then he would just stay in Toronto."

If that's the case, tell him it's Houston, Toronto or take less Money and sign wherever you want MR. Bosh.

i don't think the decision will be made from one side alone. Bosh and BC is going to have to work together to find a solution that works for both sides. They both have each other's chips in their pockets, plus i believe both sides respects each other enough to not screw the other over. i just hope Bosh doesn't end up resigning with us at the end

First of all the Miami deal is old news. The Globe & Mail denied any rumors with any sign & trade involing Bosh & Beasley. Also, Bosh and his agent Henry Thomas have said they have made no commitments with any team. Plus Bosh is still planning to meet with Chicago and Miami.

Bosh has control where he will go to. But Toronto has some leverage by offering him the most money. Like I said before based on the John Hollinger chat today, Bosh does not want to give up the $30 million dollars.

Teams who lose on the Lebron & Wade sweepstakes will be desperate. Chicago has given Hinrich, Tyrus Thomas, and their 2010 first round draft pick just to get cap space. NJ has unloaded Kidd, Jefferson, and Carter so they can be big players in the 2010 free agent sweepstakes. NY has let all their big contracts expire and offered only one year deals to Lee & Robinson last year so they can be cap flexible this summer. There will be losers, and the losers will drive up the price for Bosh.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet is the limitations imposed by the maximum salary any player can have. By my calculations, the 10% raises given by the Raptors would only count if the cap space increases by 5% every year, which is unlikely in this economy. If the cap space stays the same, the maximum increases of 10% will not be possible. As far as I know, the max salary can have is 30% of the cap space. The only exception is that a player is guaranteed 105% of his previous year's salary, even if it exceeds the 30% number. What this means is that unless the salary cap grows by at least 5%, the increases Bosh would get could be way lower than both the 8% or 10% stated in his contract.

Does anybody have any ideas if the above is actually accurate?

This is the third time I've said this. If Bosh was only in it for the money, then he would just stay in Toronto.

Why would he want to go to NY or NJ with a depleted Roster? Why would he want to go to Chicago if Noah and Taj Gibson are on their way here? Yo're making the assumption that if these teams don't get wade or lebron, all of a sudden they'll start throwing us great deals. Well then what incentive does Bosh have to leave?

If he wants the full max and for some reason wants to play with no one in NY or NJ through a S and T, then sure...but I doubt that's his thinking.

I never made any reference to "old news". I firmly believe that Bosh wants to play with Wade in Miami.

Bosh wants both worlds. He'll chose his team, and ask the Raptors to pull a sign & trade. Tommysdu said best:

"Bosh and BC is going to have to work together to find a solution that works for both sides. They both have each other's chips in their pockets, plus i believe both sides respects each other enough to not screw the other over."

The best time to proceed with Bosh is when Lebron & Wade signs.

Actually BC has control then because Bosh wants the full 6 years and MAX money.
Get over your man crush on Bosh he is greedy and attention seeking.
Now that JJ is getting MAX do you think Bosh will accept less?????
