Default Attending Games This Season

So who else is going to a game this season?

By virtue of a very generous birthday present I'll be going to six games this season:

Spurs
Mavericks
Lakers
Thunder
Celtics (February 6th)
Heat (March 17th)

Will I see any of you there?!

I'll be going to Lakers, Heat, New York, Thunder, Minnesota, and Chicago if Rose is there.

Some of those teams more than once.

On the fence of what to go to this season. Pretty sure every game I went to we lost big last year good team or bad. Think I might skip the home opener for once and see how the team plays before I start buying in.

Really? Big?

I think we lost 5-6 games all season at home by more than 10 points (11+). We were in most games at home and on the road, especially considering the lack of talent we had.

True, but can you really tell me they weren't in most games last season? Obvioulsy it was because of their defense, but still.

That's a great sentiment and I'd normally share it with you, but I decided that I won't be putting any money into the Raps myself once they put ads on the jersey. No games, no jerseys, nothing.

I love the Raps, but I don't ever want to be watching the last possession of a one basket game, watching the play develop and as the attempt goes off I see an ad for Primo Pasta, or Coca-Cola, or McDonalds, or anything. The floor is one thing given the arena has naming rights. But on the jersey? To be the only one of four major sports that's so greedy they need to advertise on the players themselves?

Fuck that shit.

Meh, that's one thing i don't care about one way or the other to be honest. Having adds all over the court is worse imo.

Wow man thats some strong feelings, I really have no opinion on the jersey thing as long as it doesn't make them look like Race cars. I just don't like seeing fans cheer for the other teams more then the Raps when I go.

You guys might not think it's that bad now, but just wait until a company you don't like buys the ads or they clash with the colours or they decide to make them bigger because, y'know, it's a hell of a lot easier to go from less to more than to go from nothing to something. It's the principle of it. Sports is still supposed to maintain some of the purity there is in athletic competition and advertising on the players themselves really degrades what the jersey is supposed to represent - YOUR TEAM and YOUR CITY.

Could you imagine MLB telling the Red Sox or the Yankees or the Cardinals that there'll be advertisements on their uniforms? The fans AND the players AND the management wouldn't stand for it because tradition and the purity of the game is supposed to mean something more than money.

Then go to the Rockets game and bring as many Raps fans with you as you can. I was at the Knicks game when Lin beat us and it was an awful feeling hearing everyone cheer for him instead of the home team just because he's of Chinese background.

And if that SOB gets voted into starting for the west I'm going to have a shit fit if he doesn't decline it.

P.S. This whole international voting thing is garbage.

It was one of the better games, but the ending left me stunned.

Yes it is, in a game like basketball, where 1-2 players can dramatically change a team, just knowing that the overall culture of the team is to compete, regardless of maybe being not quite talented enough to come out on top, night in and night out, is VERY promising.

It's usually a sign that your ship is headed in the right direction.
