Ugh. I wish I had given the piece more thought. I saw Washington Post and figured it was a credible outlet. Anyway, since I am not a fan of tanking, I hope that when these quotes are in their proper context, they're really just referencing sucking as an option, not a plan.

So, Sixeiro talked about this today. Mostly regarding the hockey comments. He said an interview was involved. Where are the questions? This really looks like it was done by interns.

I'm not gonna dispute what you guys are saying about how poorly it's written because I don't think I know more than any of you, but are you guys saying that the quotations were never said? I can't really think of any other situation where
Quote:
“I didn’t get along with the GM of the basketball team, so we brought in somebody who sees the world the same way I do,” Leiweke said.
and
Quote:
The owners “are very aware that we may ultimately have to, excuse my English, suck to be good,” he said. “They understand they’re going to have to be patient there.”
could mean anything else. Only the latter could maybe be out of context referring to another team or something, or am I missing something?

What does seeing the world the way he does mean? How does he see the world? Without that even hinted at within some kind of context it offers nothing, outside of him not liking Colangelo for some reason.

And the owners know that ultimately they may need to suck. So what? A lot of qualifications there. To me it says little else than the ownership is not limiting any options. There could be much more to read into it if he just brought it up of his own volition within some other context, as opposed to being directly asked about needing to take backwards steps first.

ah I see. in essence the statements/quotes are too vague to make out the meanings they did, gotcha.
thanks!
