Question Arsenalist: Who’s backing up Parker?

The million dollar ... Who’s backing up AP? I usually agree with Arsenalist in his blogs, but I'm not sure taking a risk with Allan Houston is the right one in this case. I'll take my chances with Adams, Roko and Will instead. (*not that we have any other options at this point*)

I mean, there are holes in the wing but lest we forget we also have holes at the backup SG. Parker’s been a player that has shown that he can’t be relied upon to be extended in his playing time and Jason Kapono’s seasonal performance leaved much to be desired. Parker’s fourth quarter shooting has been woeful at times and you have to think if we start calling on him to play 35 minutes a game, he’s going to have nothing left by Game 75, let alone the post-season. You can only ask Roko Ukic to do so much in his first campaign while at the same time keeping a close eye on Jose Calderon’s minutes to ensure his legs are still there come playoff time. Lot of challenges, lots.

I don’t know how good Allan Houston is but the Knicks seem to be serious about him. If he can still shoot the ball he might not be a terrible pickup in case the Knicks drop him. All we need him to do is keep the D honest when Bosh and O’Neal are doubled. Houston’s jumper was/is prettier than Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Dale Ellis, Dell Curry and Jason Kapono. I kid you not. I’m not advocating the move but given how we’re over the cap and close to the luxury we’ll be forced to scrape the bottom of the barrel anyway when it comes to picking up a player. So why not a proven veteran? Worst comes to worst we cut him.

Split duty between Adams and Kapono.

I would prefer, as stated many times before, that AP back up Adams.

Edit:

Would rather do a sign and trade for West or even try to get Freddy Jones back than have Allen here.

He'd be given more minutes this time.Since AP is getting older, maybe he could get a consistent 15+ minutes most nights.

As a bonus he already knows Sams play.

Kapono and Moon are his backups. Adams should recieve limited minutes as a 4th wing guy. Or Solomon. I would actually prefer to see Bargs get some minutes on the wing in close games instead of going deep to the bench.

What about Bonzi as another SG option? He's apparently still available.

I don't know why he hasn't been picked up yet Doc. Let's grab Allen Houston for 1000 dollars

I remember Dixon saying he wanted to leave because of the limited minutes he got, but it's not like he got any with the Pistons. Saunders gave him like a minute a game

If Kapono starts then Moon would be a viable option at times if they go big.

Its gonna be between Joey and Adams who gets the sg/sf backup spot depending on how youd categorize Kapono/one of those 2 when theyre on the court together. Its more like the backup sfs will be coming in for Parker and the backup sg will be coming in for moon but whatever.

I think Joey will get his shot early in the year and if he fucks up then Moon will play more mins and Adams will take some
