Gilbert being Gilbert I guess.

When Iíve seen some of the names that are being thrown around on the ticker as snubs, itís killing me. I understand Calderon has the best assist-turnover ratio in the league, but you know whatís funny? All back-up point guards have the best assist-turnover ratios. Screw it, Kevin Ollie should be an All-Star then! For like five or six years, Ollie was No. 1 in assist-turnover ratio!

An All-Star is an All-Star! Heís playing at a high level. That means, if you take him off the team, that team should fall down if heís that one guy. An All-Star means that he is dominating the game of basketball. Itís not even about numbers necessarily, itís about dominating.

I could probably say that Richard Jefferson got snubbed maybe Josh Smith too. His 18 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks puts him at No. 14. Richard Jefferson is No. 13. Turkoglu is No. 15. But, El Calderon? Come on.

Iíve been loving the way heís been playing for the last two years. When he first came into the league he was a little timid and scared to shoot the ball, but heís taking over that team. But All-Star? Heís about 20 years away from being an All-Star.

This is the difference between Antawn and Caron stepping up with me out and Calderon stepping up with T.J. Ford out: Antawn is second in the league in double-doubles and thereís only five players in the league averaging 20 and 10 Ė heís one of them. Thereís Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson, Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh and Antawn. Four of those five are All-Stars and their teams are winning. Caron is playing at a high level. Heís taking over the game when heís been playing Ė All-Star. Calderon is managing a team. If he was up for Rookie All-Star, Sophomore All-Star Ö BOOM Ö heíd get in. He might even be MVP! But for the big show? The big game? No.

You know what? Iím sorry people. I think Iím biased because my team was fifth in the Eastern Conference and I was averaging 29, five and five and I got snubbed off the All-Star game. So maybe Iím a little biased. I was in that Larry Brown era, so, my fault. You know what? Calderon might have been an All-Star. I canít look at my situation and judge everybody elseís situation in the All-Star game. I guess my 29, five and five and being in fifth place wasnít good enough at the time.

The team in the East is pretty sad really. I remember Gil being snubbed and really thinking that he could have been on the team, not that I cared either way.

And I thought Jose was a good year away from being an All Star in a real sense. 20 years? That's pretty funny stuff.

Jose didn't deserve to make it this year, but yeah he's not 20 years away.

He is playing at an all-star level, but there are other players that got more snubbed that calde. He didnt mention his 91, 42, 52, % shooting, or his +10 assits per game since starting. I agree in part with him, but he clearly hasnt watched enough TO games to be able to judge.

I agree Jose is not an allstar but Arenas is all over the map. On the one hand he's saying Calderon doesn't dominate the game which is true but then he says the team would have to fall down without him there which clearly it would(with Ford out as well)... so yeah...he's being a chump as usual although I do agree with the overall point that Jose isn't an allstar(although i'd use the words isnt' quite rather than 20 years away).

Arenas is a god and will be in this game for 50 years, playing, then either writing or on camera.

Oh, I think that's a given that he'll be in front of the camera once his playing days are over. He loves himself too much to just hide away somewhere.

Mark my words... in few years people will talk about Jose like they talk now about Nash and they will also ask:"Arenas who?... wasn't he that fool that archived nothing but yapped like a horse..."

Arenas is a ball hogging moron, nothing more....

for a guy who was a nobody, then worked his way up and became a household name (something from nothing), you'd think he'd have some respect for the underdog or under-appreciated players, i guess not.

ouch, for a point guard to say something like this:

Quote:
There’s Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson, Carlos Boozer, Chris Bosh and Antawn. Four of those five are All-Stars and their teams are winning. Caron is playing at a high level. He’s taking over the game when he’s been playing – All-Star. Calderon is managing a team
just goes to show how much he really understands the game ...

Alledgedly.

Arenas is just pissed Calderon tore him a new one last year when Calderon was the backup.

Arenas is still the man. Best storyteller in NBA.

Certainly he is, but that's not the disputed point. Starter quality and allstar are two different things.

I follow Arena's media.

Anyone who thinks this cat is a bad man, is ill informed.

end story.

Arena's is a really good guy, just really different, he's more like a real person, and less like a robot athlete.

As I mentioned earlier, you guys are soft if you are gonna get all pissy about that Blog posting, honestly, get over it.

Arenas is a good guy and I think it's wonderful that he adopted that kid, but there's a certain amount of charm required to be a brash, opinionated, outspoken self-promoter and still be likeable that Gilbert lacks.

Hollinger adding his 2 cents worth regarding Arenas' comments.

In other words, he's not just doing the risk-free backup PG thing -- he's creating shots but doing it with hardly any mistakes. That's incredibly difficult.

Of course, you can't expect a player like arenas to understand this, but here it goes anyway: he complains that he had 29/5 and wasn't getting love. But Calderon has 15 and 10, those 5 extra assists are worth at least 15 points, because you get 2s, 3s + free throws. Also, Calderon gets 15 points on 50% shooting, arenas gets his 29 on 40% ...

But the biggest blunder he makes is when he says :

Quote:
An All-Star is an All-Star! He’s playing at a high level. That means, if you take him off the team, that team should fall down if he’s that one guy. An All-Star means that he is dominating the game of basketball. It’s not even about numbers necessarily, it’s about dominating.
Which pretty much kills his all-star aspirations, since his team is not only better without him, but most players on that squad have better numbers than last year ...
