But Canada?

Youíre loyal fans, but itís not like I said anything bad, I just said he wasnít an All-Star. I said he played great basketball. Heís playing great basketball while heís filling in for T.J. Ford who is the starter. So he is the backup point guard. You know? Heís doing very well for himself, heís going to get paid money this year.

At the end of the day, the Raptors might not even have him next year, so if I was a Toronto fan I wouldnít get mad or upset right now. Calderon might be somewhere else.

Heís playing great. Over the years you can see his development as a player, and heís really playing well. T.J. might lose that spot to him, but I donít know. Who knows? As a backup or as a starter right now, heís playing great basketball.

I watched Calderon last week and he had a really good game. You can take him out of being a backup. Heís a starter now, heís a starter in this league. You know what? With Jason Kidd gone and if Calderon plays how heís playing next year and theyíre winning in Toronto and heís still the starter? He might have a shot at being an All-Star, he might have a crack at it.

I guess he didn't read jose's rebuttal in his blog.

I could have seen that pissing off Gilbert quite a bit.

Anyways, of course Raptor fans love Calderon. Who cares if he's spanish or Canadian. We gots to defend one of our boys!

Yay generalizations are fun! Good job Gil!

Random note: a disproportionately large number of comedians come from Canada.
------

On a bit of a tangent, Gilbert's comment about money is very telling. Clearly a big part of it for him is that it's about the money; who 'gets paid' and who doesn't. I don't think very many guys on our team think in those terms...

If anybody in this league doesn't think about money (except for the really rich guys), he's either imbecile or he's lying. Money is very important, beyond the security it brings, it also gives you recognition. But most of all, it's about security.

You might think that calderon making 3 million a year is plenty, but you never know if next season is not your last, you're always one injury away from retirement. Also from those 3 millions, Jose probably see about 1.5, after all the taxes and agents and all that ...

On the other hand, if money becomes so important that for a 5% raise you're willing to dump your team/colleagues - that's a different story.

no that's not the one. I have his blog opened on my computer, but it's a pdf file, so i can't copy and paste, but in response, basically Jose said the Gilbert is a good player, has his own opinions. He does not share Arenas' opinions, but has no problem with him. Then he goes to say, and i quote: "We beat them (the wizards) the last time we played them and i expect that it will continue this way in the future."

zing!
