Default Antoine Wright criticizing Derozan

http://www.thestar.com/sports/basket...kids-an-earful

"I never knew a dude who could jump that high to have the (low) amount of blocks that he has," Wright said in his typical blunt manner after practice Thursday.

"It's a shame because you're cheating our team by not using that athletic ability on both ends of the court."

Seriously.............just shut up

no this is why i love this guy, he gives you the brutal truth, no nonsense. and btw from reading the article it seems weems and derozan understand what wright is trying to do, i dont think theyre taking it personally, its just his way of getting them motivated without sugar coating anything. I love AW, if he see's something wrong,he will let people know, cant hate on him.

He's right! Although the method is questionable to a degree.

Maybe he's right, maybe not. There's much more to shot blocking than simply being able to jump. In that sense it's an extremely narrow-minded comment. Having that sort of jumping ability gives you an advantage when it comes to learning how to block shots, but timing and picking your spots is so much more important.

Either way, it's really not Antoine Wright's place. If he knows so much about blocking shots why doesn't he teach DeMar instead of reaming him in the media? What a maroon.

I hope he never marries ...
Can you imagine his answer when the wife asks "how do I look, honey?" ...
Probably smth like "I never saw somebody so beautiful look so ugly, if only you'd put more effort into taking care of yourself." ...

I don't back it at all.

He's basically acting like he's so much better than Demar........

I mean go tell him personally, but telling the media that he doesn't use his athletic ability enough to get blocked shots and stuff like that, is just B/S in my opinion.

I backed when he called out Triano indirectly, but this is a little bit low in my opinion.

There's merit to the statement, the medium is inappropriate.

I do think its his place, he plays the same position and has been in this league long enough to let him know how things work. I mean if teammates didnt do this, they wouldnt be really good teammates no?

and of course he tells this to derozan/weems and tries to teach them, he's not just putting them on blast in the media, even when he was talking shit about triano im sure he spoke to the coach about what he felt, i dont think he's using the media to get his voice heard, he most likely tells the team/staff in person all this stuff

How can you really take Wright seriously ? If you as a player can't walk the talk then its best that you shut the fuck up. There is nothing constructive about what Wright has to say.Hes better to say nothing then spew with his bull shit !

I repeat: poor man's Oakley. Charles often said the stuff people didn't want to hear. I'm sure a lot of his teammates we're like, "WTF did he just say?" and then would concede that there was truth to it. Even on the court they're not that much different. Neither were very good; both husteled and both had a couple of go to moves (oak mid range jumper - Wright baseline three).

And let's remember how much everyone wishes we had a guy like Oakley around and how the team hasn't been the same since he left. I'm seeing something pretty close in Antoine. AND I LIKE IT

If I was demar....

"Antoine Wright really needs to stop dribbling. Every time he tries his little crossover he turns it over, or fails miserably."

How does Wright's statement in any way prove that he's a mental leader? If anything he's a wannabe leader with low self-esteem who would prefer to call his teammate out in the media than give him constructive criticism on the side. It's much easier that way!

it's not what's in his statement. it's the fact that he has called players out on numerous times.
and you think he'd rather prefer to call his teammates out on the media? sometimes you have to in order to really push the player

Way to take stuff out of context.

He's challenging Weems and DeRozan to be better players and pushing them in practice, despite the fact that when they play better they take away his minutes. Sounds like a solid veteran teammate to me.

ye sounds like a veteran comment. So..Rookies need to be pushed, and its not like Derozan is playing to his potential anyway.

+1.

This is how I'm reading into it too.

I don't get it..... people have been crying all season about this team and this coach are so soft..... and now when someone pipes up and shows some balls they're mad?

I like what Wright has been doing. He has been calling out players. He obviously knows DD is good he just wants him to get better to better the team. GJ Wright
