Default Antoine Wright Can Shoot After All!

Wright is often mentioned in trade talk ideas and his stock is starting to rise. He's been shooting the three, lights out for 5 games now, going 10 of 20 from the arc. Exclude the game in Indiana and he was 10 of 15, pretty amazing for a guy that earlier in the season looked like he couldn't hit a five footer.

I've been in his corner all year thinking he should start after watching him play alot in Dallas last season however he has never shot the three as good as he is now. Triano mentioned a couple weeks ago that Antoine was a really good shooter from three point range but even i figured he was just paying him homage. Since than he has gone on this tear. I've warmed up to Demar starting, although i admit i hated the thought earlier in the season. Demar has to play if he's going to be a major part of this franchise going forward and i now understand that.

Wright is a free agent this season and i expect there will be a good market out there for a quality defensive player who can drive to the bucket and now apparently also hit the three. He's been a key in our huge resurgence since he lit into the organization after that fatefull Atlanta game and the meeting thereafter. Since than he's become a glue type guy and it would be a shame if he ends up leaving after this season for somewhere that offers him a chance to start. I would hope he likes this organization enough to stay here and that we don't trade him because he's the type of experienced pro who would be extremely valuable in a playoff series. He's also relatively young at only 26 years of age, (his birthday is today by the way Feb 6) and still improving as his three point prowess has recently shown.

Bah, as long as he's not trying to break his man down off the dribble.

Wright, Jack, DeMar, Weems, even Amir all were not supposed to be good shooters.
But now all have aconsistent jumper.
I guess Raptors shooting coach is doing wonders..
Now if he would fix Hedo and Marco shooting...

During the last couple of weeks, Wright is playing the way I was hoping for when I was advocating him starting at 2 during the pre-season discussions. He is useful on D and he is hitting the wide-open shots the other 4 starters are generating for him.

That's not true. Demar was always a good mid range jump shooter, same with Jack and Wright and Amir is still spotty at best with his shooting especially from the line.

Ye, when wright does that crossover and tries to drive, it doesn't look like he has any control, not a plesant view. But he's is definitely shooting well and playing good ball at both ends, hope he sticks around and willing to come off the bench.

His ability to drive to the bucket has allways been his bread and butter in the past. He's getting more comfortable as his conditioning and confidence improves and seldomly has to break his guy down at the point of attack anyways. Point guards have to do that more often and it's more of an issue for them. Guards on the Raps usually only cut and drive for the net after the pass. He's really good at attacking the basket and we should see more of that from Antoine from here on in.

Wrights biggest improvement I think has been shot selection over anything else. He doesn't try to shot over people but he lets the playmakers do their thing to open the floor and just finds the open space. EXACTLY what you want from a bench player.

Wright's recent play has definately been refreshing due to mostly team dynamics. I still don't see him worth much on the trade market though (unless its a throw in for something bigger) and better off keeping

The Wright play of the game for me wasn't even the 6 made shots (though those were nice), it was when Bosh or someone kicked it out to an open Wright on the right wing and he passed it inside to Bargnani for a 7 foot jumper that Bargs made with ease.

These are the kinds of plays that Wright is starting to make and it really helps us - we know he can shoot the open shot, and occasionally drive to the bucket, but he can also be a bonehead on drives - that charge he picked up I called from a mile away. When he reads the defenses and makes the smart pass, that brings a smile to my face!

We are missing AP less and less, and not at all now. And he brings better D than AP.

Sorry to be so repetitive, but Wright should start. He is a better fit with the starting unit than DeRozan.

Wright learned to shoot after it became apparent Sonny Weems was going to take his job if he didn't step it up! And the Raps are the winners in this one!
