Default Anthony Davis @ SF

I have to admit, I am yet to see him play, but having watched some of the highlight reels and having read about his guard past - what do you guys think about him possibly becoming a Durant type super-long SF?

I am not saying he's got Durant's range, but he handles the ball and passes the ball quite well and is not afraid to take an outside shot. He is also, apparently, a good perimeter defender and, as evidenced by JJ, one can block shots at SF position quite successfully.

This way, he won't have to gain as much weight and muscle, retaining his super-mobility and quickness off the ground. Also, if we happen to luck into him, this would solve a potential PF logjam AND cheer up all those pining for Chandler. :cookie:

There must be a reason though that everyone has him pegged as a PF in the NBA, just sayin...

I dont see why every lanky big guy has to be a SF. He plays like a bigman. Hes best when hes around the rim. Why get him away from the basket and have him guard quicker guys, and try to take people off the dribble when thats not his strong suits?

From the highlights I've seen of him, he seems like Mcgee with a brain, which means he can be a true game changer.

Like I said at the beginning - just a thought, trying to gather intel...

Thrills - the only reason, really, is that the dude IS rail-thin and so will have problems, especially in the post, trying to guard men. So much of his game currently seems to depend on his speed and leaping ability that one would want to preserve that vs. trying to mold him into the "proper modern PF shape" (e.g. Aldridge or Griffin).

He reminds me of Marcus Camby.. maybe because he is so slender looking. These kids need to put on some muscle

I agree with thriller92 on the lanky bigs' thing (I remember once I was reading a message board and somebody said because Amir had a similar physique to James Worthy he has to play SF) and if he is McGee with a brain that is scary.

Once he gets to the NBA and starts working out every day and lifting weights he'll gain the necessary muscle. His arms wont be sticks anymore. He has the same bodytype as Javale, and Javale doesnt get beat up downlow.

I've watched him plenty this year... He is nothing like Durant. He is more like Camby with a higher motor, better ball handler, great shot blocker, and more offensive upside potential as he matures..
Would love him on Raps

I definitely see some young KG in the guy, minus the crazy and douchebaggery. He's lanky but will likely be able to bulk up more once his body progresses. He has a nice outside shot from just inside the 3 and is tenacious on D with a knack for rebounding.

Post game needs a little polishing, but that's not too much of a concern.

To me he's definitely a power forward in the pros. I can't see him ever developing into a consistent outside-inside threat like Durant. He lacks the agility and quickness of KD.

Camby was an offensive force in college. If this guy isn't killing it offensively in college, I'd be worried about his top end projections..... that said, haven't seen any of him.

There is no way he plays sf IMO I have seen him play & he plays like a big man...
& the Camby comparisons are off because he has more mobility & is just scratching the surface of his offensive game.

watching his highlights very much reminds me of Camby at UMass.... so I went back and watched some UMass highlights... geez, those were good times. Davis will be alot like Camby in the pros, I'm convinced of this.

you never watched camby at umass. i really doubt you even watched basketball then, let alone college basketball. you're so full of shit.

back to davis, i'd love him here, but there's no way i'd take him away from the post. considering that posting up is becoming somewhat of a lost art amongst big men, i doubt his lack of size would be too big of an issue. he's quick and long enough to handle the weakside and/or any player with a face-up game. having Bargs who is somewhat interchangeable between C/PF would make life a little easier if and when he'd be facing someone who could back him down with ease.

here's hoping for a little luck, cause i'd love to have him in a Raptors jersey. jonas/bargs/davis is a seriously stacked frontcourt if players live up to their potential. no one would be able to handle that.

OK, thanks all for the feedback.

Still hoping for him, no matter what position he ends up playing. Some plucking would need to be done, obviously...

not whining, calling out. i'd gladly be a hero to someone who doesn't want bullshitters and trolls cluttering the worthy opinions of people who actually watch and enjoy the game.
