Andrea "DARKO TWO" Bargnani

I was a reading a Spurs blog about last night's game, and they've coined a new nickname for Andrea Bargnani. Andrea "DARKO TWO" Bargnani, what do you guys think? Is that fitting?

Even though I don't like Bargs he has done better in the NBA

Darko was averaging 1.5 points a game in his first three seasons. Bargs is averaging 10.5 points in his first three seasons.

Bargs still has better numbers compared to Darko this year

also Detroit could have picked D-Wade, Melo or Bosh so its a lot worse

I don't think he's there yet. He just wasn't the best pick in the draft but has averaged more points than him. Maybe players from now on that play like Bargs will be named Bargs 2

Darko didn't really get off the bench at all in his first few seasons.

If he wasn't European, the comparison wouldn't even pop into anybody's head. The fact is that he's a decent player going through some recent struggles. It just shows the lack of creativity and basketball knowledge coming from that blog.

Duncan, James, Howard, Ming, Bogut, Brand, Martin, Bargnani, Olowokandi and Kwame Brown. Those are the the top 1 picks of the last 10 years.
Bargnani has got be the 1st or 2nd biggest bust.

What? First of all, just because a guy isn't at the level of Duncan or James, that doesn't make him a bust. Those guys are exceptional players and to expect any first pick to live up to those kind of standards is asking a lot. Next, there is NO WAY you can say that Olowokandi or Brown rank ahead of Bargnani. Those guys were busts. Bargs is not a bust, he just isn't as good as the other guys (not including Olowokandi and Brown).

Plus Bargs is very young too...he worked on his defense over the summer and it has improved considerably and he is just having a bad stretch right now...he's got a shot, just confidence issues. When Bargs has played as long as Duncan, we'll see how he's done in his career

it makes him a bust because guys in his draft class, quite a number of them, have out performed Bargnani in this year and the last 2 years and those guys all have already showed us theyre going to be big time stars in the NBA.
he's young but he's in his 3rd year and he'll be a veteran soon. theres not much to show us he'll be MUCH better in his 4th year and his 5th.

fine he's the 3rd biggest bust. olowokandi, kwame brown and bargnani....

4th... Darko is 3rd...

If BC signed Andrea like he did AP or Garbo... Euro free agents... people would be happy with him but since he was #1 pick... he is a bust.

I'm not ready to give up on Bargs just yet..

If he was our starting PF ... he'd be putting up big numbers.

The guy has been playing out of position the last 2 years... The raps just keep jerking him around from 3 to 5.

yup. that doesnt help.
im liking his defence now, but his offense is suffering greatly.
im not sure, but i think when he bulked up he lost his offensive rhythm.

i'd actually think Olawakandi 2 is more like it.
People always knock the Kandiman, but if you look at his stats, he put up a respectable 10/8 ish over his career. he was only pegged as a bust because he was expected to be a 20/11 dominating C. but he turned out to be just a serviceable big, nothing more.
Bargs was also expected to be a dominating "dirk-type" 20/9 guy who could shoot lights out. yet he's just a serviceable big who will give you 10/5 at best.

he isnt a bust per se, but its just that expectations were set to high, and he didnt deliver.
expectations killed him more than anything else.

Well any #1 pick that doesn't evolve into a stud is considered a bust because often times there are players that turn out to be way better than the #1 pick. However, he still has the potential to become a very solid big, and maybe if he gets his shit straight he'll turn into a 18/8 type of palyer
