that may well be, but until it happens, not sure how you can call him a winner ... maybe winner potential. Not sure how you can actually argue this point.

I don't know. David West is an absolute beast on the block. His physicality is what he leans on(along with his IQ and post moves). Amir doesn't have that kind of force. While Amir can score when given the ball, he likes to get a lot of his buckets off of energy, offensive rebounds, putbacks etc. He likes to clean it up a lot, unlike West who asks for the ball. West is also a former all-star, so to compare Amir to West is off. We'll see how much Amir can improve.

Sure. However, I think he's been a bit more consistent this year defensively than you credit him for.
that was amir 3 seasons ago, these days he's at his best on the P&R and he's relying on his jumper more and more. Yes, west is stronger, but his strengths (imo) remain P&R and jumper - in NO he and paul were beasting and after paul left, he kind of struggled to replicate those great seasons. And he's a pretty good defender too, definitely better than amir. As far as all star, there's still time, amir is what, 26?

Dude the guy loves this organization and city and calls it his home. Unless we give him a real unreasonable offer, he should stay.
sure, the problem is we don't define reasonable. If the market for him is 12/yr, we may be able to get him for 11.5, but how much of a discount you think he will give us? Keep in mind, he's a guy who's yet to cash in, he barely made 10-12M so far in his career (after taxes etc). BC's contract was basically his only payday coming off a late 2nd round selection.

always makes me happy when you see him throwing himself on the floor for a loose ball or and just not backing down to anyone. him and Vasquez seem to be working nicely too.
Well he is Calderon 2.0 after all; remember how those 2 connected when he was here ^_^

You can have winning players on a losing team...

Amir is a smart, team-first, efficient, hustling player. Same goes for Battier and Haslem. Amir at this stage also has more skill. Put Battier and Haslem on this team and would we have that many more extra wins? Just a small point I'm trying to make.

exactly. There are winning players on every team. According to this logic, Kevin Durant is not a winner lol

um, no - he won plenty in his career. Not a title yet, but still- he's a proven winner.

guys like battier and haslem, throughout their career, their teams have done well. They've proven that they can contribute to a winning environment, sometimes more than their stats would otherwise indicate. They're also excellent to elite defenders, which explains the previous statement - defense is not captured in stats. Amir is nothing like that, he's a hard worker with more talent than either haslem or battier, but a shutdown defender he is not. And unlike those, he's almost an underachiever, if not for the tact that he came into the league so raw and never got a fair chance until Toronto. Given his age, there's still time to improve to the point of all star level in fact.

So amir may just be like them, but that's just conjecture. He's most certainly not a proven winner. If you want, call him a prospective winner That's mostly all I'm taking issue with, calling him a winner ahead of time. It's like calling JV an all star, he may have all star potential, but we won't know until it happens.

My only problem with Amir is the damn promo ad on nbatv that has run for three years now. I need something fresh. They have all this nice production work on every episode of open gym, but play all the same promos over and over.
