Raptors Amir, Davis and the PF position

At the end of the season most suggested that one of Amir/Davis would have to go. Then we drafted Acy, another PF. Will BC make another move that includes one of the two main backups before the season begins? Will one of them be packaged with Jose at some point?

BC said during his press conference that he wants Davis backing up and pushing Bargnani, where does that leave Amir? If Gray is brought back and he shares minutes with Valanciunas, where does that leave Amir? He seems to be the odd man out but does Colangelo have plans on moving him or would there be more interest in Davis? It seems like there probably needs to be another move here, no?

I don't think Amir has been given a fair shake by the team - I hope I'm wrong and that he is starting next year. I really like his game and would like to see how he performs on a team that is competing. Despite a less then stellar season, he still had some high points like thoroughly outplaying and frustrating Kevin Love head to head.

He struggled last season because he was playing at center all the time. A 6'9 thin PF playing at center!!!!! He can do that only when he has too here and there, but he's mainly a PF IMO

In his breakout year, in 09-10 or 10-11 he played mostly at the 4.

As I've said before, Amir is a valuable bigman off the bench for a winning team. He does a lot of the little things and he doesnt try and do too much. He can be a Haslem type player for this team once we start becoming a good team IMO.

I'd prefer to trade Amir if there are good offers in return out there.

It wouldn't shock me to see Amir playing a lot of his minutes at C again. Bargs and ED primarily playing the PF with him being 3rd option there. I don't think they want Gray to be starting for them so I think we'll see a lot of Amir there until JV is ready.

i think they are working really hard to get ed to a certain level, they are pushing hard during summer league to make him the focal point and working on his offense (i.e. his jumper)
i think if he can reach a level they feel comfortable with they will trade amir, if he doesn't reach that level then they trade ed, if ed can become what they want then he's obviously a better player because of his age and the years they have control of him

so i don't expect any trade with them until at least after the summer league when they evaluate ed's progress, unless of course a good trade comes along

He is coming off the bench even last year when Bargs was healthy Casey preferred to start gray over amir with Bargs in the lineup

i don't think casey actually preferred to start gray over amir, i think he actually wanted to start amir but amir's play just wouldn't let me, this year if amir can get his head together he's going to start over gray, but really JV will start when he's ready anyways

I would get rid of Ed Davis before Amir. Amir is pretty good if you ask me.

Davis led the team in rebounding, playing limited minutes in a reserve role. I think she should be the first big off the bench behind Bargnani at PF or if JV comes off first when starting, slide Andrea to C and play Davis at PF. The guy hustles! Amir hustles too but picks up fouls easily and likes to take some deep shots out of his range(better when scoring clean up baskets)

bargnani should never, ever, ever, ever, be asked to play C again. would you ask dirk to play centre? no......

If it helps the team and if he has a good match up,why not? He's 7 foot and not slow. He doesn't need to start at that position but there's nothing wrong with him playing C in relief for a few minutes. AB is too babied! I would use Dirk at C if necessary (in a relief situation) and let's not compare Bargnani to Dirk,he is nowhere near as good of a player as Nowitzki.

It's pretty simple - make the big trade involving Bargnani.

LX ... love the fact the your position on Bargs doesn't waver .. you believe we have better off without him. For the right trade, I don't disagree.

I don't think Ed / Amir are starting PF's and thus Bargs should be the starter. Moving Bargs and expecting Ed/Amir to be our starter would be foulish ...

if the Raps move a big this off season it will probably be Amir, he has seemed liked the odd man out, Raps been putting allot of focus on Ed Davis.. and also we drafted Acy, who I believe can be similar to Amir Johnson

Davis hustles? Great, he led the team in rebounding and did little else.... awesome.

Ed should be flipped for a SF. Amir is a better fit and plays harder.

Amir has a better motor, but more foul trouble prone.
To me it looks always like Ed is playing in a slow motion pace and too laid back.

Little else? A guy off the bench leading the team in rebounding at 22yrs old is pretty impressive if you ask me. Plus he's better than Amir defensively and isn't foul prone. This guy has played 2 years, one of them shortened and hasn't had one full training camp, is in his first summer league, couldn't workout with the coaches last summer and is playing under his second coach already. I think we would be giving up on him far too early. If he continues to add size and improve his shot (which he seems to have already) he's a keeper imo.
