does a suit automatically mean they can't be a good fan? if you worked at bay and king and lived in north york. would you go home to change first or would you just wear your sports gear under your suit and change superman-style in the phone booth as you run over to the arena? or would you just go to the game in what you wore that day, like pretty much everyone does?

and, for the record, there are 3 people in leafs jerseys...

i own 0 jerseys and have never worn one to a game - raps, leafs, jays, etc. does that make me a bad fan?

I guess i really needed to break down the thought for you a little further....So here it goes.

The reason why I comment on what their wearing is not to point out the fact that these wonderful, enthusiastic hardcore fans didn't have time to get home and change before heading down to the game; because thats too tough to do when you live in Richmond Hill, Rosedale or the Bridal Path and have to be at a game for 7. The reason why I commented on what their wearing was simply to point out the fact that the overall atmosphere at a professional sporting event can be effected by the types of people that attend the games. Having attended some of the most intensive Raptors games over the last few years (Big games like the one with the 3 years back Lakers and Lin's first game come to mind) and having also been to some pretty good leafs games, you can really feel the difference in the atmosphere at the game when you have in the case of the Raptors a very diverse (in therms of what the people make and where they are in life) crowd vs the leafs which has half the arena filled with business men in suits that only really care about who else sees them at the game.

And lets be honest, when you go to a professional sporting event 80% of the reason why your there is to be part of that electric atmosphere, because unless your sitting in the Golds, my 60 inch HDTV has a much better view, and its free to watch it from the comfort of my couch, and it wont cost me 100 bux/ticket to sit in the balcony for 2 hours. So hopefully you didn't (but ya did) read too much into the fact that I pointed out that 96.25% of the people in that pictures were wearing suits because I did not have any problem with what the people were wearing, but instead have a problem with the people beneath the suits.....

David Clarkson is, you'll start hearing about it now since he's a leaf.

if this is true then good on him
imho, he'll have a hard time matching Amir's involvement though

here's hoping that many more TO athletes begin to do the same

Clarkson. He's not as public about it. And you haven't heard about it since he was with NJ, but he's from Etobicoke.

LOL

He's only been here a couple months dude. Even if he's from Etobicoke. He's got a long way to catch up. Amir takes fans out to dinner, gives away tickets, buys fans CD's, interacts at city wide events, is extremely active with fans on twitter and is in Toronto most of the offseason. I hope Clarkson does get involved to that degree, we need more sports figures like these in this city but sorry, there is not one athlete in this city that comes close yet.

So, you said there's nobody like Amir in this city, Clarkson was like that in NJ and is now starting in Toronto, giving away tickets, doing charity work, helping out kids with cancer etc. point is he does just as much, you'll just now start to see and hear about it since he's in Toronto.

We'll see. Good on him if he does...

I also just find it amazing that an American Basketball player loves this city and the community like Amir does and does as much as he does including in the offseason. So to me maybe it just means a little more under the circumstances.
