Amir asked to come off the bench

Raptors' Amir Johnson asks for bench role

Blaze 12-07-2013 02:10 AM

Why was he sulking when he first took the role then?

Kirby 12-07-2013 02:25 AM

... dat ambiguity in the title!

Nites 12-07-2013 02:27 AM

Maybe so he could get away from Rudy and DD.

andris213 12-07-2013 02:51 AM

What a team player

rapsmannn 12-07-2013 03:18 AM

amir doesn't look like the happy go lucky self playing with this roster, maybe he thought there would be more opportunity scoring wise which is true

andris213 12-07-2013 05:11 AM

Rudy is actually bringing the whole squads morale down I've never seen Demar or Amir this down and it is not just about losing because those two have been losing for about six years

It's annoying how it looks like everyone is too scared to say anything to Rudy at all. Tell the bitch to stop playing for a contract, play smart and give it his all. The rest will take care of itself. Look at the Memphis and Philly wins. Even the first half at Golden State. Share the ball and play defence and you easily have a shot. No wonder Amir wants out of that spot.

I'm with u 100% they should have a players only meeting and confront Rudy and if he still doesn't buy in put him at the end of the bench I'll bet you he won't buy in for next years contract like that and maybe just maybe we will see Rudy from last year or years past

LX 12-07-2013 07:10 AM

He looked like his old self when he got in there and Rudy had to sit with early foul trouble.

Yeah that can't eventually get you down. RME

I don't pin everything that is bad with this team to Rudy Gay. They all got along great last season and won games, hung out over the summer. I doubt that it's them pissed at him. I think they finally are fed up with losing and if anything they're starting to turn on Casey as much as anything else.

Yeah I don't buy it to be honest. He was playing like dog shit and was put on the bench. There was even word that Casey was going to sit JV instead.

DuCa00795 12-07-2013 09:17 AM

Amir would have no reason to lie about that...Dude is a team player, has always been a team player. I think he realized something had to change and took the burden on his shoulders. I respect him even more now.

Mehh. I don't buy he asked to come off the bench at all. He's a tram player no doubt. ...which is probably why he's saying this.

The Diamond Scorpion 12-07-2013 10:14 AM

I also don't buy that he asked to come off the bench, but I think he is just sick of playing with ball hog, butterfingers Gay. I agree with rapsmannn that Amir was probably hoping for more scoring touches, and by taking the bench role he will at least get more chances this way. I won't take away though that he is a team player first.

More touches? He should know he is the 4th option at best in the starting lineup. As a supposedly unselfish player why would he care about how many summer 3's he gets to jack up? Maybe stop putting up bargnani like rebounding numbers and get your head out of your ass and play better. Sorry but from the beginning of the season he's looked off and I don't believe it was related to Gay considering how last season ended and nobody could have predicted Gay playing this poorly. Imo something else is up.

andris213 12-07-2013 10:33 AM

What pissed me off is I actually liked this guy back in Memphis now he's the reason I haven't been able to watch a raptor game beginning to end all season except the games I've been at

andris213 12-07-2013 10:35 AM

And I won't until some serious change happens and I don't think I'm the only one that feels this way
