Amico talks Bargs/Calderon

Transcript - Talkin' Cavs with Sam Amico

Quote:

Q: Would the Cavaliers have any interest in Bargnani?
Sam Amico: I think so. I think anyone would.

Q: Really? Who do you think are the most likely teams to land Bargnani?
Sam Amico: I'd think the T-Wolves would have a shot. Want Derrick Williams?

Q: How would Bargnani fit in Minnesota? Insurance for Kevin Love?
Sam Amico: He could play center, small forward, too. Could you imagine a frontline of Love, Pekovic and Bargnani? Make other teams matchup with you.

Q: Which other teams would want him? What about Jose Calderon? Who wants him other than the Lakers?
Sam Amico: To be honest, I don't think either is in high demand. So "wants" may be a strong word.

EDIT: More entries:

Q: Should the cavs go after Andrea Bargnani? What would it take to get him?

Sam Amico: I'm not an NBA GM, but if you could get him for not much, sure. Guy is a mess right now, though. It'd be risky.

Q: Bargnanis value will never be lower than it is right now but he is only 27 yrs old and the risk is well worth it. I would trade Tristan Thompson to his hometown Toronto and late 1st rounder maybe rotation player and make a real run.

Sam Amico: OK.

They would be sure to win a championship before Lebron!

These beat writers can delude themselves all they want into thinking Bargs would change on their respective teams. It's not going to happen. He is who he is, and aside from a few diehards, we know it to be true.

It's quite telling that nobody is asking about Lowry... maybe his trade value is really low given how he ran his mouth in Houston. lol

I could see Cleveland being interested... though I don't see us getting much. Casspi and Walton. Book it.

TBH, I don't think that anyone thinks that we'll really give up Lowry (yet).

When that time comes you can bet that the phone will be ringing.

Nobody is asking because it's our fans posing most of these questions. They have no problem asking about who'd take Calderon though. You really want to trade both?

MBailey85 12-12-2012 04:22 PM

What specifically about 12/15 makes it a significant day regarding trades? Is it because certain players become available(like Fields)? Or is it that once the season begins, teams aren't allowed to trade until then?

MBailey85 12-12-2012 04:23 PM

Also I was reading somewhere that apparently the Hornets approached the Raptors about Calderon...

Yeah i heard two possibilities:

Vasquez for Calderon

Calderon, Ross for Gordon

I don't think either would happen. And Vasquez only makes 1.2mil

Calderon/Ross for Vasquez/Gordon works i think but no way in hell they would give up Gordon for that package.

players that signed in the offseason can't be dealt until then.

Thompson and a 1st for Bargs? Take that and run BC.

Vasquez would be a sweet pickup, he's cheap and plays like a warrior.

Getting Gordon would've been great if he hadn't shown himself to be so injury prone.

Salaries are nowhere close to matching though. It would have to be part of a bigger deal.

carp 12-12-2012 05:40 PM

Spin: Gordon has been rehabbing in Los Angeles, working out a few hours each day to regain the strength in his quad muscle he lost as a result of the knee injury. "When [Gordon] had soreness in his knee, that limited him from working out on that leg; it obviously weakened the quad muscle," Hornets spokesman Harold Kaufman said. Gordon is expected to return to New Orleans at some point in December, but a timetable for his return remains unclear.
Gordon and Lowry, most gimpy backcourt pairing ever. 60% of the time, it works everytime.

I know, just saw that the guy from the article suggested it.

I checked the ol' trade machine, and it looks like once the 15th passes we could snag us a package of Vasquez, Aminu, and Lopez for Jose and maybe Ross or Ed.

Doug Smith on with McCown suggesting the Raps should really look at shoppiing Lowry.... I'm starting to see his genius, finally!
