Raptors Amico: Bargnani talk picking up, Lowry might also be moved

Comment From Rhett
Hey Sam, hearing anything at all about the Raptors?
12:59

Sam Amico: It's funny. Hadn't heard anything about them all offseason ... now the buzz about them possibly moving Andrea Bargnani just picked up in a major way. Word is, they could move Kyle Lowry too. So stay tuned. The Raptors are gettin' busy.

I think moving Lowry means we would have to move Rudy too since they're close friends and all, so that would be a rebuild altogether.

Hopefully we get a nice deal involving Bargs though.

I'm thinking that to get a decent return on Bargnani we'll have to throw an asset into the mix. Doesn't mean we're tanking.

Moving Lowry is a smart play... keeping him means we'd have to pay a steep price to extend him. If we move him, we should also consider moving our other highly priced guards too.

No I'm not actually, they bring Rudy and Lowry over and start looking to win now, but then you move Lowry right away. If its in exchange for a high level pg (or they sign one in the offseason) then it looks like they're committed to winning now, but if they end up drafting a pg and maybe another prospect, that might be enough to detract Rudy from resigning here long-term. Teams like Cleveland and Washington, for example, already has young assets, but all signs point to them making a playoff push next year. If we were to trade away Lowry for pick + prospects, those would probably end up looking like much better destinations for Rudy.

It didn't even say the potential to move both were related.... they're probably wanting to move both regardless of how. You should have bought a JV shirt.... or maybe a Jose shirt if they bring him back!

I should have bought Val ... at the time Val was injured tho I think... and Lowry was a big deal Bought a DeRozan jersey and a Lowry shirt. And I have a feeling both of them are gunna go ... fuuu.

I think keeping Gay on board for the tank would be perfect.

We still won't be good enough to win anything. He can stat pad his way into legit value in the league and for his next contract.

Hopefully we either trade him at the deadline or in the summer for a decent haul.

If they trade Lowry, we are tanking. You just don't trade your starting point guard and expect to compete. Unless you're receiving a top 5 point guard, obtaining a veteran or young point guard will not make your team competitive. Lowry was still getting accustomed to his teammates and learning how to run the team for the whole year. If they trade Lowry, this team is tanking. You might as well trade Gay for a top draft pick:

Zach (Cedar Falls)

If you were the cavs, would you heavily consider oladipo? obviously they took waiters last year, but i feel they need a more dynamic wing player. also, would you flip thompson and the number one for a player like a rudy gay?

Chad Ford (ESPN)

I would. If I was the Cavs GM it would be: 1. Noel 2. Oladipo 3. Porter

This is Colangelo's team that we have right now. Obviously Masai is gonna rip it apart and make it his own, why would he fine tune someone else's garbage? It just sucks that we'll have to go through another few years of watching pretty shitty teams.
