All-Lillard weekend over here :yeah:

Ball Don't Lie 02-14-2014 12:13 AM

I always wonder why guys like Lillard want to participate in the dunk contest when they have little chance of looking good, given the fact that most fans expect little guys like him to fail, and the odds that he comes up with a dunk that he can actually do that will get a rise out of fans is minimal, if not 0. I get why he's in the other contests because he can build his own brand from winning those, but he's going to back to square 1 if and when he underperforms in the dunk contest. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I doubt it in this case.

Ross not being in tomorrows game is terrible. He would have had at least 3-5 incredible dunks in that kind of game, plus he actually played well enough to be a participant in it.

John Wall is going to be the guy who impresses the most in the dunk contest. Hopefully the format is actually a good thing and this weekend will be a lot better than the past AS weekends. Luckily the AS game has been the bright spot the past few seasons, hopefully that continues. Last years game was highly entertaining.

And Derozan in a skills challenge seems perfectly fine to you?

In my opinion guys who are 6'7" and under look the best in dunk competitions. Mostly all the dunkers who are in TFB are 6'4" and under.

I'm looking forward to Janelle Monae and Earth Wind & Fire.

I was at Wed game and Demar has improved so much in this passing department that he kinda does deserve to be there....VS ATL they shot a stat up to the big screen that was pretty surprising.

Demar was 15 assists away from passing his 2012-2013 assists total for the year (in which he played in every game)....Thats one hell of a stat considering he is not only scoring more this year then last year, but he has almost doubled his assist rate in one year. I think he was put into the contest mainly for that reason....kinda like a most improved passer of the year thus far.....

2012-2013 - PPG 18 Assists 2.5 - 204 total assists through 82 games
2013-2014 - PPG 22 Assists 3.8 - 192 total assists through 50 games

He is also 35th in assists in the league this year and is 3ed amongst SG's in assists this year

DeMar has indeed improved his passing game, but let's not go overboard here. Most of those raw stats come from his crazy minutes played and usage numbers. He's 5th in the league in MPG and 2nd among guards (slightly behind Harden). He has the 6th highest usage rate among players who play 36 minutes per game or more. And of those 22 players, he has the 12th highest assist rate (about middle of the pack).

So yes, he's improved to an acceptable level of passing, but he's not exactly a world-beater there.

Obviously that's the most ridiculous of the selections on Saturday, but I dont really care about that compettition much so I didnt bring it up. I'd still bet Lillard is going to fail worse than Demar because people dont pay attention to the skills compettition.

Nice form. Apply some of that to the midrange jumper now.

Well I'll be more than happy if he keeps hitting those half court shots

statistics don't always tell the whole truth. You're not using your eyes enough so as to support your negative outlook for the team. I like statistics, but you're going overboard to fit your own bias. I respect and like your posts but comeon, this team is doing too well for this much negativity.

what negativity are you talking about? No one is bashing Derozan now, do you disagree that he is not exactly Pete Maravich when it comes to skill challenge?

There is no negativity there. Stats are stats and the truth is cold. If you get hot about it that is your interpretation.

Well he was sitting in front of pete's uniform in that Simmons video. Maybe he touched it and some magic happened.

I would have said the same thing, but apparently lilard won last year. I didn't watch it last year, so I can't confirm though.
