Not since the days of*Chris Bosh*have the Toronto Raptors had anyone worthy of getting an All-Star nod. Enter*DeMar DeRozan, who is making a strong case to represent Canada in New Orleans come February.

His raw averages in the standard categories are all career-highs: 21.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists in a staggering 37.9 minutes per game put him in the argument as one of the best shooting guards in the league. Granted that position isnít incredibly deep, but his averages donít lie.His shooting percentages hurt his case slightly because the increase in production hasnít been followed by a subsequent increase in his percentages this season.

But a closer look into those numbers show he has another career-high in terms of usage percentage with the 15th highest rate in the league at 27.5 percent. That increased workload has led to defenses keying in on him, which in turn provides some explanation for the lower field goal percentage this season when compared to the season prior.Like most good scorers, DeRozan gets a good amount of points from the free throw line.

He has learned to use his slashing ability more, instead of relying on his still-developing jumper. The USC product makes great use of the ball fake off the bounce, luring clumsy defenders into the air to help him get to the line where he shoots a reliable 78.5 percent. He takes the eighth most attempts from the charity stripe in the league and eases in 5.3 of his 21.3 points each game.

You know, I wonder what Demar's legacy will be in the end. He was called a bust from the get-go and still takes heat from fans despite his dedication and ability to keep from complaining about the poor environments he has been in.

We fawn over role-players and are trying to cozy back up to Vince. Others have dumped Toronto at their first good opportunity. He says he wants to win here.

In the end, Demar may not end up winning a championship here, but an all-star game or two, some playoff appearances, and what is his legacy here in the end?

Does he get the Mo-Pete/JYD/Amir red carpet then? Fan passion/adulation for him seems pretty absent to me.

Kyle deserves it more than lowry if we can win most of these what next 10 games? Derozan has stellar nights, and off nights, depending on his matchup.

Demar is the second leading SG scorer in the league. Lowry and him should but make it in the east, but right now Demar is being stunted by Casey's shitty coaching. Letting him take Kobe and Lerbon esk shots, not getting him to attack more and settling for jumper. Demar's a freak athlete, if he got to the rim even half the amount of jump shots he takes, His percentages would go up and the offence would be much more efficient.

Derozan is a scrub compared to Demar.

why isnt derozan 10th in the mvp ladder on nba.com? lol. theres a reason why. and just because derozan is 2nd in scoring at the SG spot, doesnt mean hes efficient enough as lowry. Lowry has carried more of the load when it comes down to clutch time then derozan in most games

still, it's hard to argue kyle over lowry, even his biggest fans would agree that lowry deserves it more than kyle. Just my opinion, of course.
