Yes, opposing viewpoints must be held by groupies.

I wasn't just talking about team success. How do you explain Demar being part of a top 5 defense playing 40 minutes a game? Is the difference between the two players really that dramatic? It's clear on paper that Afflalo is more efficient, and i would concede an edge on defense, but there is more to the game than that. You claim that Demar has regressed so i don't expect you to understand that, and i can't claim to have watched a lot of Afflalo in Orlando. I have seen Demar playing at a level that would be entirely acceptable to be rewarded with an AS selection. It would not be an atrocity. Maybe look up the word atrocity.

I trust you watch a good number of Orlando games then Kool Aid? That seems a little crazy in it's own right, but in any case, is Afflalo really comparable to Kyrie from last season based on all that you've seen?

Currently Demar's defensive rating and DWS is better then Arrons, but what do I know, I don't consistently watch every Orlando game, I'm too busy watching Milwaukee play every game this season so I know everything about them..

Arron Afflalo is just so efficient (47FG%, 41 3PT%), to me he's having the better season but it's close atp the way Derozan is coming on.

What was true 4 weeks ago is not true now. It's clear DeMar has stepped up his game, but when I made that post he was in a slump. He has stepped up his rebounding and passing but those numbers are not any better than Afflalo's in those categories.

My issue is not so much with DeMar making the game, just with Afflalo not making it. I've already said I expect them both to make it.

Afflalo IMO is comparable to Kyrie, not so much in capability as Kyrie is arguably a top 15 player in the league which I don't believe to be the case with Afflalo, but they're both top 3 players at their position in their conference and they should be in the all star game despite their lack of team success.

And the groupies comment was not regarding you, but rather those "sneak dissers" as Chief Keef would call them, who thumb down without stating a reason. Those who are blindly supporting DeMar, similarly to a groupie.

Defense is not so easily quantifiable by stats. You can have a poor defensive player exist within a good defense, but a good defensive player can't fix a team's issues all by himself.

DD has been much improved the past few weeks which has seriously boosted his season averages and advanced stats.

Afflalo:

TS%: .586 EFG%: .531 USG%: 24.2 ORATING: 113 DRATING: 110 WS/48 MINS: .129

DD:

TS%: .515 EFG%: .450 USG%: 27.3 ORATING: 106 DRATING: 104 WS/48 MINS: .126

TS% and EFG% really do coincide:

Afflalo:

FG%: .467 3PT%: .414

DD:

FG%: .424 3PT%: .289

I'm glad to see DD's DRATING be the best of his career, doing pretty well WS/48 mins, much improved in that regard, and ORATING is actually > than his DRATING for once in his career.

However, I think it's pretty obvious that DD needs to cut down on his usage, at least a little bit.

So is there anyone out there who still thinks that DD is at his ceiling and can't/won't improve any more?

Not me. The only thing I can say is a problem right now is his 3 point shooting. He improved at the start of the season then it went away.

DD works very hard but some things seem to take a while longer to take. For this reason I think he will be a later bloomer in some other facets of his game and still has room to improve.

I also think this team is better suited for him now. I'm not sold he's the main guy on the team, but he's so far proven he can be a 2nd most improtant guy instead of 3rd or 4th.

Keep working DD.

I doubt there will be 6 guards. 5, maybe 4. 6 seems unlikely. Wade and Kyrie are definitely there via fan votes. Which leaves I guess 2-3 out of Afflalo, Wall, Lowry, DeMar, maybe Kemba.

A month ago i would've said that both wild cards would be big men (i.e. only 4 East guards in the AS game). But with Horford and Lopez injured, I guess 5 guards is more likely.

prediction: If toronto maintains their standing as 3rd team in the east then Lowry and/or Derozan will be all stars.

if we're barely in 3rd, I think we'll only get 1 spot. However, if we continue to win at a high rate (doable given the light schedule) and end up 7-8 games over .500, we may actually get two spots. I think it's unlikely though.

Accurate...

KL and DD both deserve it but I think DD is a better representation for the Raps since its more likely he'll remain with the franchise moving forward. It would suck if KL became an AS then bolted in the offseason making it look like the Raps made an AS get away.

I think there is a chance both Raptors get picked by the coaches. These picks are often seen as not just a way to recognize individual play, but also to reward teams that are deserving of extra recognition. I agree it would take a solid record above .500, but given that, they could very well want to avoid giving any kind of reward or recognition to teams that are just looking to pile up losses, since that is not something coaches appreciate at all. That still leaves Teague in play, maybe not many others, and it might not be a case of the coaches just thinking there's no room for more than one Raptor.

If we stay 3rd in the east both will make it. Only way I can see Lowry missing out is if Teague helps the Hawks move ahead of us in the standings.

I think Wall and Afflalo are a much bigger danger. I suspect that at least one of them would have to stay at home in order for both Raptors to make it.
