To add further clarification, the main point in all these jokes, is that Fields does not need help sucking. He can suck on his own.

The only drawback? Yeah, he makes more than double and none of it is insured if he goes down for an extended period.... like all other contracts are. I'd say that's two reasons.... and the guy just had a cyst burst in his knee.... three reasons. No big deal, but it's not that far fetched as some might think, especially if they want somebody younger in FA

BC wouldn't trade anyone for Amare imo, his contract is just that ridiculous. Maybe if it was an expiring but with 3yrs left on it no way in hell.

I need to claim ignorance here on the insurance front. So if Bargnani goes down with an injury - the Raptors get how much of his salary back?

i don't know the answer to this, but i know that the insurance does nothing for cap space. you can make a request for a disabled player exception which allows you to sign a player over the cap at 50% of the injured player's salary (if the player is gone for the rest of the year or more), but the value of an injured guy still counts against the cap.

i am guessing that the insurance varies from player to player.

likely up to two-thirds as long as he's out for an extended time and until he'd return... then they'd have to apply to the league for an exclusion for cap purposes to add a replacement....

Ok you're right but either way isn't the situation somewhat similiar? I mean we didn't overpay for just his services only and it wasn't a mistake. It was a lure to get Nash to Toronto and/or just to stop from Nash going to NY?

I can't believe I'm going to say this.... but I would think long & hard about a Bargs + filler deal for Amare.

If his knee held up he'd be a hell of a combo with Lowry. And Jonas would be a perfect fit beside him.

I'm almost sure that they'd have to give up some sort of asset or incentive for us to take back Amare. I'd also think hard about Amare for Bargnani and some contracts to dump if we could get at least a pick back.

With all of that said, we'd probably be stuck with another JO situation with a worse contract. I wouldn't do it in the end.

It's Jose + LF for Amar'e.

And yes, it's something you REALLY want to think about.

Then maybe trade Bargs for a SF, or just play him as one, shrug.

Amare is awesome... but you're saying this as the guy is sitting on the DL with a ruptured cyst and an uninsured 3 year, 65M commitment.... we'd have to throw in Landry, Amir and Kleiza to make it worthwhile.... and even then, it's a huge risk.... but Amare when healthy can carry a team to a winning record, like he did before Melo came. Just not sure he's going to be healthy now. Dude made Landry Fields look good!

Good, then we have no beef. Too bad you had to suggest that I was insinuating something that I was not.

I don't think Amare is really that selfish. He's been a willing passer in the past.

Fair enough but in 3 seasons, 1 positive, 2 negative. Bargs - 6 seasons, 1 positive, 1 positive/break even, 4 negative.

I don't know what's worse, those stats or the fact that the "key" players on this team are horrible winshares/48 minutes wise. Hopefully this is DD's first where he meets the league average and Bargs didn't meet the league average until last season, his 6th season in the nba.

I think it really speaks volumes to the team and BC when some of us on here are even discussing whether the Raptors should try to acquire Amare and that lovely contract of his.

Not sure which one to go with so I'll do both -

1.Landry Fields shot a basketball in Reno, just to watch it die.

2.Landry Fields shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die. And he hurt his hand pulling the trigger, missed his target entirely and shattered a bottle of 50 year old scotch he'd just opened to help calm his nerves.

Loved the first one instantly, but the second one is growing on me at an incredibly fast rate... I don't see how you could have bobbled it in getting both points in!

"(It was) a mixture of coming to a new team and your just trying to fit in and do the best you can -- there's obvuiosuly that as with anybody -- but then when you add on this whole hand thing, all of a sudden I can't control the ball when I am going up to shoot. When I catch it, my hand -- specifically my pinkie and ring finger are clawed together so I would never really have full control over the ball," Fields explained. "The muscles were just not firing the way they should. I'm thinking: is this all mental right now; is it all me or is there something else going on?

"Mentally I am just all over the place because I have no idea why this is happening so finally I had to go to the trainers and start this process of figuring out what was going on."

The Raptors forward said he had surgery in New York on Wednesday and explained that there was almost a sense of relief in discovering the injury as it helped answer internal doubts as to why he was off to a poor start.

"The whole time I am just internalizing everything, I am just so bad right now that I am hoping, almost praying, that there's something wrong with me because I know I can't be this bad and I know I am not that mentally far gone from all of this," Fields said.

"To be honest, to find out that there is something going on with my hand was kind of a blessing in disguise, because I needed that going forth, that piece of mind that it wasn't just necessarily all in my head. I really did have something going on."
