HA! 2 weeks ago many were saying Kleiza is terrible too!
Yeah, Kleiza is inconsistent as hell, but rather have someone inconsistently good, than someone consistently tragic like Fields.
BTW, dude looked like he's going to cry last night

Fields is as nightmarishly bad as Raptor fans predicted. Does this top the Hedo signing in terms of being horrible? If we're gonna put someone in the starting lineup over him, I'd rather it be AA or a defensive specialist like McGuire.

Overpaying for a shit player like Fields sets (another) bad precedent for the team. Now all shit players will want to be overpaid to come to Toronto.

I kinda feel bad for the guy.

You can tell his confidence is gone. I have no clue what happened to the guy in New York but you can tell he's just second guessing his second guesses. Then this contract and you know he's trying to fulfill what the management team thought of him so he's pressing even more.

The thing is, he's doing the small things wrong. He's having trouble making entry passes, he's a step slow defensively, he's hesitating on his shot. The thing is defenses are sagging on him and some of those passing lanes that would exist for others if he was attacking/playing well are disappearing and it's hurting this team on offense too.

It's so bad that we're basically hoping to replace him in the starting lineup with fringe NBA players like Anderson or McGuire. Colangelo should lose his job over this contract. This is a typical thing bad NBA GMs do. They get in trouble by giving terrible contracts to terrible players when there are far cheaper options available.

Compare Fields to OJ Mayo. Fields' contract is larger than OJ Mayo's!!! INSANITY! The Mavs have a great GM who saw the upside of a guy like Mayo and got him at a low risk contract. Meanwhile, we wasted 20 million on Fields who is one of the worst players in the NBA coming off a season of regression.

Here's what Doug Smith said Casey said about Fields before yesterday's game: "He’s doing what we need, cutting moving without the basketball, defending the players we need him to defend. It’ll turn for him, he’s too good a shooter, too good a basketball player for it not to turn around for him."

I do agree with that only thing his lack of shooting is hurting the team. Question now is, how long do you wait for LF to turn the shooting around?

lol

Typical Raptors coddling a piece of shit player. Last year his shooting was terrible and he was a terrible basketball player. Now, he's terrible this year. Fields is just continuing a trend.

I expect us to force feed him shots like we do for Bargs whenever he gets into a shooting slump, particularly at the detriment of Derozan.

We acquired Hedo as a troubleshooter in 4th quarter (during clutch time), so we paid him shit load amount of $$$. However, our expectation from Fields (from beginning), was not far below that of Hedo and they both blew horribly.

That being said, Hedo case is worse.

Dude, we forcefeed DD as well.... he's been coddled just as much if not more.

I don't believe Landry is as good as he showed in his first half of his rookie year, but hopefully I know as much about basketball as some people think!

If you are going to yell, you should yell the right things. It didn't matter whether the Knicks matched. It only mattered that we got him to sign, and when. Once he committed to sign with T.O., he was no longer eligible t be S+T'd for Nash, whether they matched or not. That was why the contract was an overpayment - to get him to sign really early and not test the market first or find out what PHX would offer him, which would have left the door open on Nash-to-NY.

Saying he's been coddled near as much as Bargnani is out of touch with reality.

the way Laundry is playing it doesn't get any worse, I was wondering if Casey should insert Mguire into the 3spot, he has good length, good defender..

Laundry would do well in the Jose Amir lineup, he is not doing anything good rite now
his contract should have been 3 years 12mil

Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe our SF is for defensive effort, not scoring. I mean non of our SF's has any play trough them, we simply got too much scorers, Bargs, DD, Lowry, JV needs to get the touches he needs to improve + we play a lot of pick''n''roll which is not suited for our SF's. Maybe LF's goal is to become a lockdown defender.

Problem is, Fields is much too small and slow to be an elite defender.

DD has been a starter for three straight years, three of which it was questionable whether he deserved it. Has it really expedited his development? I'm not so sure.

DD has never forced management to get a new coach either. Also, it's a problem when Bargs has only had one season where the raps played significantly net better with him on the court as opposed to off of it (per 100 possessions on offense and defense, last season Bargs' positive impact on offense while on the court outweighed the positive impact defensively while he's off the court - 2.2 net points. It also happened in 07-08 but it was only 0.2 net points and he played a lot less back then).

Bargnani forced them to get a new coach? Seriously? WTF. You're believing your own hype.
