Derozen 2011-12

FG 42% - 3pt 26% - FT% 81 - MPG 35

Fields 2011-12

FG% 46 - 3pt 25% - FT% 56 - MPG 28

With some FT work, the guy is as good as derozen...and although he kinda is already 'overpaid' we wont have to dish out 10 million/year for him (which is what I assume he is looking for)
Difference is that Fields was known to be a 3 point shooter, and somehow got worse..Demar was never known to be a long range shooter and was drafted with that in mind. So for you to bring up Demars 3 point shooting is just stupid.

What do you mean "with some free throw work"? Are you fucking serious? This is a shooting guard we are talking about, not a 7 foot center! Free throw work??! Gtfo.

Don't forget Thug that not only is LF on a new team and a new system he's playing the 3 spot which he typically doesn't - so he's learning a new position as well. LF struggled one year, last year, but his college and rookie season were pretty darn good prior.

So, new team, new position, new philosophy, new coach, new city, new country, new super model and only 3 games into preseason. Let's wait till December 15 to see where he's at before worrying.
Terrence Ross is in a new league, but he's still able to hit open jumpers.

terrence ross was a known shooter, we knew that he could shoot, and freakishly athletic. Jason Richardson is a good example imo.

Let's look at the whole picture....

Fields 2010–11 - rookie season
FG% .497 - 3pt .393 - FT% .769 - MPG 31 = Rookie All-Star game (SG)

LF's shot struggled one year....on the Knicks, not like that team wasn't all fucked up last year to begin with. From the FT% you can see his confidence was shook up.....I call it the 'Melo effect - makes team mates suck

fields is like the invisible glue guy.

Did JJ do anything off the court to help the team? I think not, and that's where it starts. Fields has been a great addition so far, its been 3 games, and hes bound to get better, this system fits his personality and strengths. Anyways, Can't wait to see Fields and Lowry on the court running things

He does SG well but the Raps like to play him at SF.

One rough year and some over react.

What exactly does Fields do significantly well? What does he do on the court that no other shooting guard on our roster can?

Fields was the best rebounding guard in the entire NBA in his rookie season.

He did THAT pretty well.

I would like to see that as well but with DD at the 3 and LF at the 2.

Landry Fields..... the kid is ok, he's just that, ok. He's not going to be some star here, but I just wish we could find a slightly more talented glue guy and not fall for these schlepps that torap falls in love with!

Jokes.

Some over-reacting on Fields going to, but he's never going to be a star. His well-roundedness will be useful as a complimentary bench player when we get good enough to dominate the league. It's going to be a beautiful day. Or just trade him with Jose and Ed and bring back a gay stud. Hmmm.... I probably have that a little wrong. Whatevs.

What is with this place these days, gay studs and admiration of strokes lmao

Seriously, I would love to have Gay here but in reality, who do we have as an SF to send back as a replacement cause the Grizz will need one. The replacement will also need to hit the 3 so that leaves out DD and LF is just not enough of a player (size wise/strength) to start at the 3 - he should start at the 2 or be a back-up the 2 with spot duty as a back-up 3 on a really good to contending team.

Jose/Ross/Amir for Gay/Wroten

Fields isn't gonna be as bad as some people are making it out to be. I think he'll fit in with the first group pretty well. All he has to do is play good D and rebound adequately from the 3 spot. Lowry is definitely gonna help him when he's back too.
