I said something like that in the game thread, but it was completely sarcastic. If you can't enjoy good games, win or lose, then what's the point? I saw a losing streak over the last couple of weeks that was completely meaningless, and it seemed like everyone was ready to give up.

Take a look at the thread regarding the first 12 games. So many people think they are going to suck big time. Based on what? Pre-season? All the same my own expectations range from very high to very low. I see that it could very well go either way. But unlike last season, it's very much in their own hands. If they want to meet their own high expectations, the chance is there.

if it was up to raptorsforum subscribers, they would have booked yonge street for the championship parade months ago

this is why raptor fans are laughed at all throughout the league. This is why the raptor fans are seen as unrealistic, and idiotic...

we win one game against a team that played hte night before against a championship caliber team and all of a sudden we are going to the playoffs..

I guess thats what you get when you get uneducated ball fans who got a team 15 years ago and apparently know everything about basketball

this is a pretty ridiculous stand you have decided to take.

I don't know anyone who is annointing us as champions (making this claim seriously at least).

All i know is that yesterday our team played a hell of a ball game, against a team that in their own right are a championship calibre team (to use your words), and picked them apart.

If you didn't get excited about what you saw, then i don't even know why you signed up here.

damn. who would care about sports anyway if it wasn't for the unpredictability, unexpected euforia and the hope their team is gonna beat everybody on the face of the planet?

How are Raptors fans a joke?

Even if the team on occasion over the years has been a joke, we are known as some of the most passionate fans in the league.

Will you start a "we're doomed" thread when the team get's their asses handed to them in a game at some point over the next couple of weeks?

It was a good game Gurk but I think everyone needs to relax. Its a long season and one game doesn't prove or disprove anything. The Cavs have a bunch of new guys too and they were plagued with the flu through pre-season. Good game but let's not begin rolling out the red carpet for the Raptors.

Nope. Never have. Never will.

I've been very clear about what I wanted to see from this team over the last 5 years.

NOW they finally have the personnel, the GM and the coach to get the job done. And I believe that they will (make the playoffs and have a good season).

@ SJ.... Yep. After one game.

On the same tolken the Cavs are 0-2.

Does anyone think this means they'll have a horrible season?

Didn't think so.

The key is staying fit. Team is so deep now especially on the perimeter that if some players don't produce others can provide relief. With everybody healthy I just can't imagine this team lose more then 30 games.

I think that you have me confused with someone else.... because I never said anything bad about Hedo at all.

Once we lost Marion he was #1 on my list of players to go after.

He's a very versatile player who compliments this team perfectly.

I think their fans are probably talking doom scenario's and pissing their pants that LeBron might walk, don't you?

I'd be worried if I was a Cavs fan.

Not at all.

They won't be winning 66 games again though. And they won't be winning the East.

well i dont know, don't speak too soon. Just like many people said, it's only pre-season. but again it's only one game. I think us raps fans should jsut CHILL. yes very very very good first game, but move on don't think this is how the WHOLE season is goin to be. I think last night, they played TOO good to be true. and i guarantee they will not keep this up the whole season.... i really hope they make playoffs this year. or bye bye bosh.

Lol... my god.. some of you here are so conditioned to accept the shitty situations that we've had here in the past that you're incapable of noticing improvements.

Let me lay it out for you....

1) Our PG situation was ABSYMAL last season. Will freaking Solomon was starting for us. : | Now we have one of the best PG tandems in the whole NBA. A healthy, well-rested Jose and a capable back-up (starter quality) Jack. We even have Hedo who can act like a point forward, giving us even more versatility and giving our guards a break at bringing up the ball and creating offense.

2) Our superstar made a commitment to get better by adding muscle to his frame and working out harder than ever before. He's also in a contract year and just came off of a great experience with Team USA. He also has more help than ever before.

3) Bargnani seems to be picking up right where he left off and is going to be a CONSISTENT threat for us this season. Looking more & more comfortable on BOTH ends of the floor. We saw this over the second half of last season and it's continued right on.

4) Jose took the entire summer off for the first time in AGES. He's 100% healthy now and won't have to play monster minutes due to the improvements in the roster.

5) The addition of Hedo is huge. We finally have the excellent perimeter playing that we've been looking for ever since Vince left. He can hit the big shot... WANTS the ball in crunch time... and can create for others as well as himself. At 6'10" he's another nightmare matchup for teams along with Bargs and Bosh.

6) Our bench. Can anyone argue that the guys that we have coming off the bench are MILES better than anything we've had over the last while? Weems... Belli.... Rasho... Evans... DD/Wright.... All guys who seem to know how to play the game properly and are very talented and/or experienced.

7) Our coach has also had a FULL off-season and FULL training camp to implement his strategies and put his mark on the team. He has a pretty good idea of what his team of capable of and what he wants them to do. The addition of Iavaroni can only help too.

8) The WAY that we play the game is just different now. No more relying on Bosh to carry the team by himself. No more pathetic rebounding efforts. No more games of JUST jumpshots (did you see how many FTAs we had last night and during most of the pre-season games?). Defensive energy is also a lot higher with this group.

Are those reasons enough for optimism?

Or should we simply go back to rooting for this team to fail so that we can have 2983472569 pg. bitchfests again in all of our threads?
