Alabi's 10 min of Fame

Solomon Alabi 2 PT 1-3 FG 0-0 FT 0-0 3P 6/2 RB 0 AS 2 BL 0 ST 2 TO 3 PF 10 MN

What did you guys think? That is a sick per 30!

Free Alabi!!!!

m5racer 04-20-2012 10:15 AM

we need to move on from this guy

AlexRaphael 04-20-2012 12:11 PM

The thing about Alabi is that he doesn't have the natural feel (or the mentality) of the game, like some others do, like say Magloire or even Gray. Alabi is limited on BBall IQ... can't complain about it through because he grew up back home (where their is struggles) and started too play basketball at a late age, just cause of his size and athleticism. But he is a hard worker.

Now Valanciunas has the same fitness, body type and athleticism as Alabi, maybe a slighter edge for Alabi over Jonas. But dayum, when it comes to Basketball IQ and passion, Jonas by a longrun, and he is younger too! but thats cause he has that natural passion or feel of that sport, rather then Alabi where he most likely considers it a job, where he tries to do the right things in that limited playing minutes...

I say start Alabi & give him 10-15 minutes per game for the rest of the season.
Get Grey coming off the bench because if the Raptors are going to retain him that's where he will be playing next season, so let him learn his role.

I could see us starting gray for the first half or third, then star JV.

Yeah, on stats alone. Now, if you happened to actually watch the games... :sigh::tombstone:

While I agree he is not starters minutes ready for the NBA I do believe he is going to get better...& at 7'1" he will get bigger.

I think he is a good 3rd option/injured reserve for now at the C spot.

IMHO, as someone has mentioned here already, his feel for the game is just horrible, at both ends of the floor. It's unlikely to improve significantly.

lankganglia 04-23-2012 02:48 PM

I think he is a good DNP, keep him around for when we need to foul howard 6 more times

carp 04-23-2012 02:48 PM

It's a battle between Ed and Solo for who wants it more!
:dead:

Chiggmo 04-23-2012 04:06 PM

Theres no reason to not let the guy play a bit, I still dont understand why they don't let em in for 15 minutes in a few games since its a tank season. You literally have nothing to lose by doing so...

DonMughal 04-23-2012 04:09 PM

Give Solo the start. I don't understand why not.

not yet. SOLO is a key piece to the tank. START THIS MAN!

moremilk 04-23-2012 04:41 PM

say what you want about him, but he is TALL. Monroe looked like a PG next to him. And he's also reasonably quick for his size. Sure, it may take 3-4 years to get him up to speed, but I would definitely keep him around for the veteran minimum.

DonMughal 04-23-2012 04:43 PM

His size and the way he looks always reminds me of Mutombo. :cloud9b:

Solomon Alabi 11 PT 3-10 FG 5-6 FT 0-0 3P 19/5 RB 0 AS 3 BL 0 ST 0 TO 1 PF 40 MN (Final, Nets)

I know it was the Nets bench playing but that is amazing. I am still disgusted they never gave him a shot to at least show what he has until this game...
