Default According to ESPNs Fantasy Site; Bosh is 10th best in the league (Fantasy-wise)...

So according to the 'geniuses' at ESPN, Bosh is rated as the 10th best fantasy option in the NBA... which arguably translates to being the 10th best player in the league - stats-wise.
Agree or disagree?
FYI, Bargs is #75
so this begs the question.... wouldnt the 10th best NBA player in the NBA be worth Maximum dollars?

This is in regards to fantasy stat production, so yeah sure.
The same could be said for any player on a bad team(or historically bad) who dominates possession in that teams offense(historically 70% of offense flows through Bosh)

So according to that logic Murphy is worth about 10-12 million per(26th, 10th best big man)
Lee(28th and 11th) worth at least 10 per,
Brook Lopez around 9 million(36th and 12th)

I've never been a big stats guy myself, so i refuse to let the numbers be the sole measuring stick in how 'good' a player is - which is kind of the point with fantasy leagues.

As for him being worth max. money..... I honestly don't know. I've always thought that his numbers may have skewed his worth a bit - but that's just me.

We'll see how he does this year with a far more balanced team around him. If he takes the bull by the horns and really and truly leads this team to where it ought to go, then yeah - i guess he would be worth max dollars. yet to be determined though.

In terms of salary and player rights he needs to get his money.

He was given the previous contracts leading up to this point in time and now his next(provided he doesnt have a MAJOR decline in numbers, abilities, health etc) contrcat is going to be max based on percentages of raises a player is entiltled.

But I still have seen nothing to warrant him getting max.

I think you need to see the qustion from the opposite angle.
If Bosh isnt worth a max deal, than who is?
I'm guessing you'd only get probably 4 names out who are worth max deals... yet there are 10-15 players who will actually end up getting one in the long run. Is Bosh one of those guys; yep.

would you pay amar'e a max deal? how about Al Jefferson?
i doubt you would... but someone will... and someone will pay Bosh the same. if we dont, he's gone.

and that's fine.

If this team really succeeds this year - like can really compete and beat the best teams in the league, then you know - Bosh may be worth it.

But if we're still just mediocre, or even worse if we end up sucking, then i would say it would be best for the raps and Bosh to part ways (if Bosh insists on getting the max).

I could give two fadoos what happens to Bosh next summer if he can't take this team where it should, or where most people think it should get to.

It's never been about whether or not Bosh is "worth" max money, because I think he's a long shot away from being worth max money. But so are the other "x" number of players who will be signing max contracts in the next couple of years.

A bottle of water is nowhere near worth $1.25, the markup is atrocious, but that's what water sells at so that's what we've got to pay. CB's selling himself at max, the markup may be huge, but if that's what he feels he's worth and that's what the market feel he's worth, then that's what he's worth, deserved or not.

imo, any player who is not very good to dominating at both ends doesn't deserve a max.
in other words, a top 3 offensive player with average defense warrants a max, a top 3 defensive player with average offense deserves it. Being a very good (top 15) offensive player and just average on defense doesn't. That being said, if you have to overpay a player, might as well overpay your best one.

Whether he's "worth it" or not, he WILL get max dollars (if he puts up a similar year to last). It's simply because a dozen or more teams will pay to get that caliber of player - even if he's not nearly as good as Lebron. Since they is only 1 Lebron (or CP3 or Kobe), there is a limited supply - and a capped price. Thus, he'll easily get the max from some team.

Just the way the cap works. You'll have 15+ guys getting max - even though not all of them are similar in terms of productivity.

It's going to be about the intangibles - as I pointed out in my blog entry yesterday.

No doubt CB4 is a top ten fantasy producer. I would rank him 10th and I don't see him climbing any hirer than that. I think this is the year Dwight enters the top three alongside James and Paul and never looks back.

I agree with Apollo.

Except there may be a run with Wade and Kobe for that 3rd spot.

Lebron #1
Paul#2
I think Wade #3
Dwight #4
Kobe #5
Durant #6
Granger #7
Deron #8
Dirk #9
Amare #10
Jefferson #11
Bosh #12A
Iggy #12B

D12's FT% is what destroys his fantasy stats, and keeps him outta the top 5...even top 10 in some cases.
