About Bargnani :

Do you remember last season there was a point where he looked amazing! Well, this was about the same point Turk started going sour ...I went to a couple of games and the way Turk would treat Bargs was horrible! He was just plain mean and talked down to him even when Bargs would do something good. I watched him do it to weems and de rozan as well. He was a cancer! He couldn't take it when Bargs was emerging and shining so he bullied and berated him. Turk is a flashy, arrogant guy and Bargs is the exact opposite so imagine how Bargs must have felt in the locker room with this bully always picking on him.

He will shine, trust me. Soon we'll all be looking for a nickname as cool as "disco" for Andrea, cause this boy has skills!!

Wow, I didn't notice this but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
But yea, Bargnani is by himself now pretty much, No CB4 or Turk or Jose getting on him on anything.
He's gonna be good

I noticed before time-outs when they were talking to the bench Turk would be giving him shit, seemed like Bargs was always justifying himself. I don't think Bosh had all that great of a relationship with him either, but Bosh isn't a true douche like Turkoglu.

And by promised land you mean the basement right? Just kidding. I think it's time for him to step up another gear. Hopefully it happens for him this year.

Yeah I here ya. Bosh is not a mentor. He is self absorbed. All about his little world of youtube videos, knocking up baby mamas and getting ridiculous tattoos to prove he's a tough guy. Puhleease. He's a cowboy from the suburbs of Texas and all this garbage he has turned into is just him overcompensating for being a dork most of his life. Bosh is not a champion. Champions influence and change those around them, they make others better ... did Bosh EVER strike you as a mentor? more like the class clown.

We've got some true character guys now. Barbosa is an amazing, amazing dude ... just wait and see. We have a real TEAM here and with Jack leading the young guns the sky is the limit.

Jack is a MENTOR. He is a LEADER! The guy never quits and his work ethic is AMAZING. He is in Las Vegas right now uplifting the troops and making them better as we speak.

For all his ups and downs, he finished 17/6 with 1.5 blocks. With an expanded role, where every game he will be a focal point, get touches and not be forgotten, and with 10+ rebounds up for grabs, anyone who doesn't think he can be a 20/8 players at minimum is only fooling themselves, and showing how much an idiotic hater they are.

Nowitzki even came out last year after the game against them at his age he's already further along than Dirk was at that age, and Dirk didn't even have the pressure of being as #1 pick in a vicious media market like Toronto. Bargnani is the new face of the franchise, EDIT - please calm down with the silly accusations.

Don't play the race card. I'm Italian - Bargs is not a franchise player.

A lot of times 2 great players can have a lot of trouble on the court together because they want a different type of player then they have been paired with and try to change their game.

I hope that your assessment is right and that Bargs was always trying to do whatever Turk and Bosh told him to, which caused him to look more like a role player than he really is because he was stepping out of his skillset by stepping aside for others.

However, if this is the case why is he so average on the national team as well?

Is it general refusal to be a leader? I don't care for that. It's frustrating when a guy can do damage to the other team but refuses to demand touches. Hopefully someone will recognize his talents and allow him to flourish rather than push him to the background.

We need him to step up, so if he doesn't do it now, he never will.

There is no doubt about his technical ability. I think it's the mental aspect of the game he needs to work on. He needs to play with more hunger and with a chip on his shoulder. Hope he does well next year.

I agree, he got mentally weak down the stretch but I truly believe it was the lack of support. (the kid needs a mentor) and the constant negative crap from Turk. It will be easier for him to step up without that slimey pizza eating dooshbag out of the picture.

Bargs needs to be a leader to be effective. But for him to be a leader he needs the confidence and know how. That doesn't happen overnight for a guy like him. He has gotten better every year and if all the cards fall the right way he will be a beast this year.

2-3 years he will be a superstar.

The guy has made me jump up and down and holler on more than one occasion. And on many other occasions he has made me curse. If he can consistently bring enough energy and focus to follow shots instead of just watch them (every possession), then that alone will make a big difference. And there's no way that anyone kept him from doing those things or bringing the overall energy and focus.

He's great one game and the very next drops off dramatically, with the same roster. He's also played the same way without Turk, and actually failed miserably when Bosh was injured. It's entirely about consistency. Without that, his talent and skills are going to be overrated.

I'm not sure about the Superstar billing, but he clearly has some excellent skills and is an all around good guy.

His biggest problem is between his ears ... tentative, lack of aggression, and lack of leadership skills, etc.

While behavioral attributes can be modified/changed, it's not typically something you see everyday. Having the correct complementary parts/players around him may make him more effective.

Hay, I'm a big supportor of Bargs ... the sky is the limit with this guy.

I just want him to play with aggression on both ends of the court. I frankly don't want him to average 20 points a game. He's most effective when he's very selective with his shots and is playing down and dirty defense.

If he averages 14-15 points (50% shooting), 9-10 rebounds (I know this is a stretch), improves his assists, and blocks a few more balls ... then we will start to win some games. Coaches should be working with this change in mind ... not more points. This guy can flat out score when he's on a roll and shouldn't be the focus of his improvement.
AGGRESSION and PASSION ... this can be taught, but he needs a Behavioral Doctor to help or a life changing event.

hehe - quite true

You know what I loved. I loved when Big Baby Davis made a mistake in the playoffs which forced him to foul a guy, then he stands and screams "I fucked up" over and over again to his bench while the freethrows are taken. Bargnani is so far from that kind of intensity it isn't even funny. He'll kill the team for a good deal of a game, and then shrug and say "I played bad".
