Depending on the length and price, i think this is a good sign..brings a solid veteran presence off the bench

Unless there's a trade or amnesty coming, Gray is signed for the room MLE - about 2.575 M per year or less.

WTF!! why is BC wasting his time with this guy? there r better options out there at the 5 spot unless his contract is next to nothing. Whtvr its his show, if he wants to sign at bunch of clowns i guess he can do whatever he wants.

At 2.5 he's great value. And he can still improve a bit and I liked him a lot last season as he was.

Why though, don't we benefit from the early bird ruling in the Lin case?

Only if we kept his cap hold active. And since we need that cap space to sign Fields and make the Lowry trade, we must renounce his rights.

Again, though, like I said, if we are amnestying or trading someone, this can change. Since all this is happening before the 11th, they have room to manoeuvre to do these moves a number of ways.

To your point, if we did use his rights, he would be signed to a 2 year deal starting at $3M (at most). But there would have to be an amnesty or trade (reducing salary) for that to happen.

PS - I like that we are bringing him back. Very solid production in limited minutes against big centres. Perfect starter/backup for JV.

I'm glad he's coming back. He's not the swiftest player, but his fundamentals are pretty good. He'll be a good stop-gap C until Jonas is ready. I assume his contract will be easily moveable too, if we need to.

Good to hear. Solid bench player. Good defender and rebounder at a bargain price. Not to mention he sets nice screens.

He's serviceable baby! Gray for less than 3 million/year sure beats giving Omer Asik over 8 million/year.
