Default 8 games under .500 and halfway through the season guys...

Oh dear lord, after tonight's game against Chicago, my fellow RF posters, let's face it guys and start looking at potential draft picks for the next season. I don't want to even get started on a team that's just won 4 games on the road before the game tonight... Regardless, this game shouldn't have even been close and it was our franchise player who messed up in the end who was blocked by a sophmore player in Noah who's considered a bust...

This brings me to a question. It's a crucial posession and we take a timeout and a play is drawn for our star player in a one posession-game. Now while our players are soaking up the play, the opposition has pretty muched designed a defensive play to "deny-the-ball" or "play tight" on Bosh (2K9 reference). What I don't see is, why the hell don't we try and throw off the other team by giving it to the NEXT hot hand of the 5 on the court? The Bulls were playing zone and Bosh should have risked getting an offensive foul in tonights case, HOWEVER another logical and viable option is Bargnani, no? A cut-through play would have EASILY gotten us another 2. I partly blame tonight's game on coaching. A wide open 3 is another option, look at the Magic (the drive and KICK), they're #2 in the east now and thats a play that Van Gundy has used NUMEROUS times to win games on the clutch.

I actually wouldn't be as angry with a wide open 3 as opposed to having Bosh being blocked on an off balance jumper.

I'm in no way trying to be negative or put negative vibes amongst our community, however from a numerical and standings standpoint its just downright ugly for us right now. TO BE 41-41 THIS SEASON IS a blessing right now because currently we're 16-24, 8 games under .500... at the halfway mark of the season. There are 42 games left and if you guys look at the schedule there aren't as many "easy" games there. We're not going to beat Chicago 3 times, Miami another 2 times or Phili another 2 times either, all of those teams have improved internally and have since had winning records. Heck, I bet we go 2-2 against the Knicks AT BEST. There goes .500, there goes the season, and there goes the playoffs.

The reality is, there's no way we're going to win anymore than half of the 42 games left which is 21 for you all, (let alone winning 27 of 42 games to GET to .500) and hence that leaves us out of the playoff picture.

I don't care how many of you think I'm wrong, cause I'm sure if many of you think clearly, we're really, REALLY screwed this season. We'd have more to count on next year if we could draft a talented wing player, even a one-armed Derrick Rose-like-player would do WONDERS for this team.

Do you think we should just let the season go?

Things would look really bright next season though, a hungry Bosh/Calderon/Bargnani combo, JO off the bench, (or the theoretical good player that we get for him) Parker and Moon possibly off the bench (they are pretty good bench players- if signed) and a talented young first round draft pick.

This team is capable of losing to anyone. The schedule means nothing. I only hope to continue to see the development of Bosh and Bargnani, as well as Ukic for the rest of the season, with wins and losses meaning little to me at this point. I was quite happy with the continued chemistry I saw tonight. It's never going to be enough alone however, and too often it is going to be just that. But at least it's something to build upon, which is something I wasn't sure I'd be able to see not too long ago.

Well we just plain suck. ANd keeping Calderon + JO out is starting to hurt us point wise. We need to just trade JO and get a good wing and we can get shit rolling

Yesterdays loss was bad, but give credit to Chicago, they played great ball.
How the hell all of you come to conclusion that we need to trade JO is beyond me.
My only hope is to get him back, then we have a chance

No team should ever resolve to losing. period.

JO will be moved for upgrades at the wing, which is sorely lacking, and once that is done we'll see what happens.

Right now, lets get Bargs developed more and get Roko some valuable experience. Once the new guys come in we'll get tham acclimated into the system as well and then see what happens.

As far as picks: I would like to see a Ty Smith, Buddinger, DeRozan with a pick in the teens, James Harden is we get a real high pick.

Al-Farouq Aminu descends from a line of Nigerian kings and his name Al-Farouq means "the chief has arrived"

I've seen him play in a couple of games this year and he hustles, crashes the board jumps on loose balls and never gives up on a play. Sometimes you can see his teammates running down the floor when he's still trying to steal the ball in the backcourt.

When the Raps have 10 games left then we'll get a clearer picture.
Playoffs or lottery.
I'll make a list in April - May

NBA Comparison: Luol Deng/Tayshaun Prince

Aran Smith - 1/17/2008
Strengths: Small Forward with a terrific frame with a 7-foot plus wing span and great agility ... Excellent versatility with the ability to do it all ... Has bigtime potential and should be a factor the minute he steps onto campus at Wake Forest ... Has a nice set of skills offensively with the ability to create shots off the dribble ... Terrific form on his jump shot ... Ball handling is very good for a 6-8 small forward ... Has range out to three point ... A quality rebounder with the ability to rip down a board and go coast to coast ... Uses ball fakes well and has good moves around the basket ... Long arms make him a good shot blocker and rebounder ... Early in his high school career, he was a post player so his post up skills are very good for a 3, a skill that will come in handy at the NBA level ... Has no positional questions, as his skills and size are perfect for the small forward position ... Great in the open floor utilizing his speed athleticism and body control well ... Very quick off his feet and dunks without needing much momentum towards the rim ... High motor guy with great focus and intensity ...

Weaknesses: Needs to get stronger physically. Improved upper body strength will allow him to finish better at the rim after contact ... His outside shot is good but needs more range and consistency ... Can at times be too enamored with the outside shot. He's better off the dribble ... Must improve his consistency on the defensive end of the floor ...

Notes: A descendant of Nigerian kings ... His decision to stay at Wake Forest after the tragic death of Skip Prosser is a tribute to his character ... Appears to be a likely one and done candidate ...

yeah - i feel the same way. Felt this way for a month now.

Chalk this season up to off-season risk not working out. meh. it happens.

Bargnani's developement is sure nice to see. It's saving the season IMO.

Hmm....don't see why everyone says our April is so easy. Looking the the sched I see 6 games against teams with better records than us, and 3 games against teams with worse records than us (unless I miscounted).

".500 gets us in the playoffs.why panac?"

You really think this team is capable of going 25-17 the rest of the way? I don't see it happening. I project the 8th seed in the East to finish with 39 wins, but even that would require 23-19.

I do if Oneal and Calderon can get thei asses off the injured list. We are playing pretty good right now, we need the point production from those to to go over the edge.

i can't see this team winning 15 games the rest of the way... 30 wins would be a great season for this team... we should resign ourselves to the fact that we are going to get any better... unless we pick up a guy who can play defense on the wing...

For the sake of this team, it would be better to just forego the season and getting a better selection than get into the playoffs. Think about the top 5 seeds - Cleveland, Boston, Orlando, Detroit, Atlanta - do we really have a chance against these teams in a 7 game series? ANd chances are, if we're in, we'd be a 6-7-8 seed, meaning, a date with Cleveland, Boston or Orlando would be inevitable. I don't like our chances. That's why I don't believe BC is panicking to make any deals - JO's contract is more valuable after this year and if we miss the playoffs with is a real possibility, we can acquire a better young asset in the draft.

Bulls just beat Clevelend and Raptors had em.. so dont despair, this season a lot of developping is going on as injuries sidelined the veterans, there is still 42 games left and Raptors can make a run out of it and win most of them so that should be the main focus and playofs should be secondary as it dont depend just on them (if playoffs happen, fine, if not, win as much as you can).

I think Triano needs to quit playing yo-yo and switching PGs after every mistake and we'll have a chance to win every game...Then the big question comes: who's gonna take the last shot?
