Quick question guys; are they retooling the schedule? Because I don't see how they can just take the original schedule from Christmas onward without major competetive issues since some teams missed games against a lot of weak opponents and vice versa. Basically are they just going to tack on games at the end or switch up whole parts of the schedule?

They'll retool the schedule. I heard that hey'll cut games that aren't within the teams conferences. In other words we might only play Pheonix once instead of twice.

oh alright, ye probably play all western teams once. so thats 15 games play teams not in your division 3 times, play your division 4 times. so a total of 61. and then the other five i guess would be western teams for the second time, thats what im thinking

20-30 games is too generous considering a 66 game season! I say 18!

Tank the season, not like we'll win many games anyways.

This could work out really well. They can have a bad season record-wise without Casey being tagged as much as he might under a full schedule. And meanwhile they can get a really good sense of what needs to be changed and improved upon, and taste enough sense of success and potential while establishing a new system and new culture, that with a high pick and Jonas joining the team, and maybe a nice pickup somewhere, there could be a definitive turnaround next season.

Competing for what? More draft picks? Surely not a title...

The regular season will be extended into late April, pushing back the playoffs and the finals by a week. To fit 66 games teams will have to play, on average, about two more games per month.

Teams will sometimes have to play on three consecutive nights something that has not been done since the lockout-shortened 1999 season. That season, the shortest in the modern era, is often regarded with an asterisk, and was marked by sloppy play and out-of-shape players.

The 2011-12 season may need only a quarter-asterisk. Every team will play 48 in-conference games, just four fewer than normal. But teams will play only 18 out-of-conference games, meaning not every team will visit every city.

26-40

there have been young teams that start out hot but falter at the end of the season. with less games there will be a lower chance of decline.

10-56 would be optimal (worst record) and secure us a top 4 pick.

we should probably wait to see how free agency unfolds before making huge predictions, you cant expect BC will keep the roster as is. but if hes dumb enough to do so, id say about 15-20 wins.....(and pick harrison barnes with our godly draft position)

lol with a record like that, we'd be fighting for eighth seed position in the pitiful east.....but who knows, maybe there will be a shift of conference power this year

2 draft picks coming at once and a good FA, that's a game changer! I think we can be a solid 6-8 seed in the coming years.

Sharp post. I'm really excited to watch the Raptors again. I'm guilty of following the Lakers more closely for the last couple seasons...I miss the Raps!

You're right, anything CAN happen. But the Raptors winning it all, that's not one those things.

i just want a team to be proud of!

As an eternal optimist i kind of already am proud, watching young players improve, but you know, making the play-offs, performing well in the play-offs, "doing a memphis," all of those would be awesome and really give us a reason to be proud.
