3PT Shooting

Beyond defense we desperately need some outside shooting on this team. How will this be addressed this offseason, who's out there that can come in and help us in that department? I doubt DD/JJ can improve to the point where it won't be an issue if someone else isn't brought in. Ultimately we have 2 somewhat consistent 3pt shooters (Bargnani, Jose) one of which doesn't shoot enough for it to make any difference. So who can we realistically get via FA or trade that would help in this department since it doesn't seem it can be addressed in the draft?

Shane Battier? or Kapono.

battier is a solution
kapono solves the 3pt shooting but provides nothing else and even takes away from other stuff

battier can shoot 3s and can defend, but he's got the james johnson build and would take away from JJ's PT

May be out of date but...

Jamal Crawford, Von Wafer, Anthony Parker, JJ Barea, Aarron Afflalo, JR Smith, Shannon Brown, Most of Miami, Vujacic, Willie Green, JRich, Nick Young.

NBA free agents in 2011 and 2012 - ESPN

JJ should be a consistent 20mpg player anyway. And really what if he and Battier split the minutes? I'd have absolutely no problem with that.

i was actually about to say the same thing...he should be cheap and i have no problem bringing him in just as a pure shooter, nothing else...

Jamal Crawford , he is the kind of vet this team needs. I can seriously see him being here for many many years just like Ray Allen.

This is why I'd love to see Barbossa NOT exercise his player option. I'd much rather see the Raps allocate that money towards making an offer to a player like Afflalo.

if kapono is on this team next year i will punch myself in the face until i'm unconscious

come on BC! sign kapono again...:dancing:

Metallikid 06-20-2011 05:33 AM

Battier and Afflalo, two of the only guys I'd want, aren't going anywhere. The most gettable player would be Jamal Crawford and I don't see us doing that unless Barbosa is gone.

LKeet6 06-20-2011 07:45 AM

one guy who is basically a poor player who can shoot 3s (eg kapono,) and then (please!) one of the better ones who can actually ball a bit.

why would you guys wan't Kapono back.. he reminds me of tracy Murray, they both dribble the ball to much, just shoot threes, stop trying to create

jeffb 06-20-2011 12:16 PM

Miami should get Krapono back. Having him hit threes off the bench wouldn't be a bad idea imo. Plus he'd be cheap.

Affalo. Yes please, Mr. Colangelo. :cookie:

Meh, it's a big concern for me if we were a playoff team.

Right now, I don't care. I'd rather have our team continuously attack the rim and shoot 0 three's every game.

Plus, right now with Jose and Andrea on this team we have guys who can consistently shoot the 3.

Too bad one doesn't shoot nearly enough and the other isn't really all that consistent. Let's just hope both aren't back.

I dunno, a guy who shoots close to 35% isn't necessarily that bad of a shooter.

And Jose has always been a guy who's taken good shots in the flow of the offence (why you have an obsession of him shooting more I'll never know and leads me to believe you've never known a guy who's played PG @ a high level).

Again, shooting 3s is pretty overrated.
