the 3 Spot

Is it just me, or is anyone here a little worried about the 3 spot? I am quietly hoping to hell Ross can develop, and fast so the Raps can slide Derozan into the 3 spot because as is, Feilds and LK just dont have complete enough games to make that position on the floor valuable.

I worry, its`what I do.

Kirby 10-13-2012 06:14 PM

I'm not ready to give up on Fields at all. Clearly they're still getting their cob webs off and they don't even got Lowry on the court yet. Fields is a player that gets better as the team gets better, just watch.

If anything, we still have Alan Anderson to hold the fort until we get someone worth keeping. Kleiza isn't showing much at all.

Superjudge 10-13-2012 06:20 PM

Kirbs, those guys can fill a spot, warm bodies so to speak. What I am talking about is a good, effective player that can help push a team o a higher level. These guys are all stiffs. Feilds looks small and skinny out there to me, I dunno.

I honestly think this team, as built, would benefit more from Ross at the two, and Derozan at the 3.

DD would get abused by true SFs. I think one of DD or Ross have to be dealt to acquire that SF. Fields is more of a SG than SF.

Superjudge 10-13-2012 06:26 PM

I think "abused" is a bit of an exaggeration. Certainly there would be nights where superstars beat him up a bit, but he seems to be coming into his own on the aggressive side of the game, I just like him, so far, a little better than the other guys there. This could change as Feilds or Kleiza start to get it going, but for now...eesh... it looks a bit ugly

When I say abused I'm not referring to when a superstar owns him (which would be inevitable btw). I mean physically. Opposing SFs would have an advantage physically. DD currently has that same advantage (arguably) as a SG.

Superjudge 10-13-2012 06:31 PM

I won't argue that man, I agree, I guess I'm looking at it like the lessor of two evils.

jeffb 10-13-2012 06:33 PM

To be honest I want to see Fields get a shot to play 25mpg to start the season and see what happens. Beyond that Anderson imo has shown to be very capable at both ends of the floor since coming here last season and Kleiza is still a pretty good player. Overall it's not great and it needs to be addressed once and for all if not by the deadline then next summer. Fields I don't think is the answer long term, and neither is anyone we currently have at SF.

Look for Kleiza to be moved next summer if he doesn't play more consistently this season since he becomes an expiring.

Agreed. Also, he's more of a SG.

Superjudge 10-13-2012 06:35 PM

I know right.... thats why I worry. Like I said, maybe Feilds brings it soon...but as is... ugh.

Stonezz 10-13-2012 06:59 PM

I'm willing to give Fields a shot, I think he's better than what he's shown in those two preseason games. A lot of the shots he missed were in and out and he played some decent D. LK looks useless most of the time unless he's spotting up. All in all AA has played the best at outta the bunch in the 3 spot so far.

Aamir 10-13-2012 07:43 PM

Johnson-Odom

bjjs 10-13-2012 07:47 PM

Alan Anderson is solid. He plays like a seasoned veteran. He moves the ball on offense, he's always getting to the right spots on defense, and he has confidence to knock down shots.

Unfortunately Fields makes $5MM more then AA does - so AA is shit out of luck.

LX 10-13-2012 08:01 PM

Anderson definitely fits the bill for me. At least he doesn't make me wish JJ was still here. Maybe we can trade Fields in December.

Fields, Ed and Jose might be an interesting package to peddle....

That's a lot of salary for one season. 19 million total. There would have to be 2-3 players coming back. I still think departing with Ross or DD will have to be done and would help a lot more in fetching that elusive SF.

In a heartbeat. It would likely be bad contract though..... and we'd likely have to add in a second rounder and probably cash.... and I'd still jump at it.

LOG 10-13-2012 08:38 PM

I would much rather trade Derozan than Ross
