I would invest in Linas' acclimatization to the starter role for at least 10 games.
@Superjudge would you like a warm body who'd be our best defender?

im an LK fan i feel like people have been too harsh on him when he wasnt healthy. He's healthy now and i think could have a good season.......coming off the bench that is.

Because Fields should be this team's starter unless LK really out plays him or Ross develops quickly and becomes a starter moving Derozan over to the 3 spot.

i just think Fields is a better fit with this starting unit, he was brought in for his defensive, his bball iq and rebounding which will work well next to Bargs and DD.

while kleiza can be a solid scorer off the bench.

I like Fields in this role... guy who doesn't need plays run for his that'll pass the ball, play D and rebound when necessary.

He just needs some time to get used to things in Raptorland.

His performance for Lithuania, where he's given a prominent role, especially vs. USA
He was consistently solid in Denver, just hasn't had any consistency in TO.
So give him a decent number of games.
Jose
Fields
Linas
Ed
Val
could be a successful line up for him.

This was a post I put in the trade proposal thread:
Raptors Get:
Michael Kidd Gilchrist
Ben Godon

Bobcats Get:
Demar Derozan
Ed Davis
Jose Calderon
1st rounder

Thoughts: Its something that either team might not do, but I figured that this can be beneficial to the bobcats. Calderon is capable of backing up Walker and also mentor him. With Davis they are able to add more depth to their bigs; however the downside is that biyombo and Davis are both undersized and most likely will not play C. Also with DD he is capable of backing up Henderson and even playing some time at the SF position. For the raptors, we get a young future SF who strives on defense with limited offense (JJ with more potential?) Gordon will come off the bench after Ross and help with our scoring droughts

Realistically I see LK like an identical version to Ilyasova imo

We don't have a first rounder to give and it seems like too much to give with a first rounder included. Otherwise, make it a second and I l'd say it's ok.

All these fantasy trades never consider if it makes the least bit of sense for the other team.

That was just an offer that could possibly be looked at. We might not even need to add in a pick at all. Gordon isnt the prime piece in this trade; its MKG as a SF with Gordon giving us more scoring off the bench with Lucas

i feel like some people are defending fields' mediocrity a bit too much. he'd be a solid backup wing, but we don't need an invisible glue guy starting on our squad.

Invisible is ridiculous, at least at this point. He's had one good season and one bad season. The guy is 23yrs old and to label him at this stage is premature. It's not a matter of defending him, it's a matter of waiting and seeing before we judge. The season is 2 weeks away, a little early for that.

i understand where ur coming from, but even fields has admitted time and time again that his contributions don't show up in the stat sheets. dude is just setting his own standard/bar low so we're not disappointed. so that when he has regular 5 pts, 3 rbs, 1 ast nights we're all like "oh thats fine, cause he's the glue guy. his contribution to the team may not be tangible on paper, but we're sure lucky to have him" :cookie:

this whole glue guy thing is getting to be a played out term. now being used a little too liberally by GMs and coaches for mediocre basketball players.

give me a "glue guy" that actually shows his worth both in the stats and in his hustle.

then again...im praying for the Raptors sake that LF proves me wrong

I agree.... he'd be a very solid guy off the bench, but I'd rather JV become our glue guy. I just hate how a guy like Fields is being annointed the next Battier. No disrespect to LF, but let's make him earn his glory here. I'm not sure we have a SF that has earned a starter's role.... yet
