3 Point Shooting Contest

Who's watching?

Kapono with 20 (9/10 on last 2 racks) to make finals. Booya.

25!1 Wins it and ties the record.

Belsius 02-16-2008 10:55 PM

Jasin with 25, that looked so easy for him lol. Not a lot of level in this contest.
Navarro should have bieng there.

Dr. J. Naismith 02-16-2008 11:41 PM

Ahhh ... Kapono didn't disappoint. :clapping:

In these last 35 games of the regular season, Kapono is one guy I'd like to see get more looks. If we're looking for consistency, then Kapono's your man. :)

pimpery 02-17-2008 12:14 AM

Kapono got more 3 point contest practice and time with the raptors then he has got floor time lol

Acie 02-17-2008 10:33 AM

Kapono was money. Thank god because I couldn't have handled Lebron coming up and accepting the trophy on Gibson's behalf.

Kapono was great and he looked good winning the 3 pt shootout in a raptor uniform. Lebron is a moron.

Dr. J. Naismith 02-17-2008 12:55 PM

Was is just me or is Kapono always uncomfortable when being interviewed?

He just always sounds very nervous and tentative. :(

Acie 02-17-2008 01:04 PM

He sounds like a bit of himbo.

moremilk 02-17-2008 01:59 PM

20 of 25 shots - that's 80% 3pt shooting percentage. Many guys would love to have that percentage shooting free throws, and that's without the time pressure ... :)

Krazy Ivan 02-17-2008 05:09 PM

He might be 3 point champ twice in a row but Sam will still keep him on the bench most of the time... why??? You tell me...

BTW... I noticed that both Rasho & Kapono flourished once TJ was back on the floor... Jose, great PG as he is, tends to give ball to Bosh too much and ignore some guys at times... mostly Rasho & Kapono...

Your saying that like its a bad thing. I agree that Kapono should get more looks, but Rasho? :cwm34:

Jose's doing what we need him to do. Feed our best player and considering that Bosh is the only player who attacks the rim to draw fouls and get to the free throw line, then its alot more affective then worrying about how many times Jose passes to players like Jason and Rasho. Until other players step up on offense like Bosh, then we'll see alot more Jose to Bosh for the remainder of the season and throughout the playoffs. JMO

Remember we used to say the same thing about Tj. Its just our starting PG, doesnt matter who, who passes the ball too much to Bosh. And thats because he is the only one capable of scoring with consistence.
Kapono and the rest of the bench missed a quality PG not anyone in particular.

Torontosaurus 02-17-2008 05:32 PM

Im not going to put it all on Jose.

I think Bosh has to post up, then give it to Kapono at the 3-point line more often instead of forcing a shot when he's double or triple teamed or shooting a contested mid-range jump shot.

moremilk 02-18-2008 03:17 PM

it's pretty obvious that sam tells our point guards to always give the ball to bosh - tj did it and was heavily criticized by fans, now Jose is doing it. This was one of the reasons I loved Jose when he wasn't a starter, he was sharing the ball with everybody, now it's usually bosh first. Yet another stupid decision from mitchell, who treats bosh like he's kobe or something. Bosh greatest strength is taking people by surprise with his quickness. If defence is prepared, he stands no chance - that's when he makes lots of TOs and shoots 35%.

Well considering Bosh is the only guy that can post up a bit on our team if you wanted Kap to get the ball u would feed it to bosh hopefully draw a double then kick it out, Kap isnt good at creating his own shot and every1 in the league knows what he is, not like he will often be standing out there alone for Jose or TJ to just pass him the ball for an open look.

Rasho could get easy points if he got the ball sometimes in the paint.

sure - I agree 100%. However, the problem is Bosh is not a very good post player, so you can't just throw him the ball like you would with Duncan. Bosh needs the ball when the defence is not prepared - he's a below average passer and his quickness is worth nothing when he's double teamed. Until he becomes more aware of the double teams, and learns to pass better, across the floor, wherever the open man is - it's not a great idea to ALWAYS start the attack with him. We need to keep their defense guessing what we're going to do.

pimpery 02-19-2008 04:41 PM

i agree milk, the real problem im really saying it trying to get Kap the ball with an open look like he needs to really be successful, it doesnt look like we have the tools to really utilize an amazing spot up 3 shooter like him atm :(

moremilk 02-19-2008 11:20 PM

hopefully in 1-2 years, both chris and andreea will become much harder to defend and then kapono will become exponentially more valuable. I still think 6 mils is not that much to pay him, even if he's not producing that much this year. Maybe he's overpaid now, but in his last 2 years we'll look at him as a bargain, especially with the cap-space being on the rise lately.
