Default 3 point shooters ????

The Raptors had a plan in place on defence last season and their execution with Casey moved then up in the league rankings.

However !!!!!!

What is the plan to make them stronger on the perimeter ??? Who are Raptor's 3 point threats ??? Who are the shooters that come off the bench ????

Having the PG that can break down a defence on the dribble only to kick it out for the 3 pt shot will only work if we had shooters.

As much as I hate the Heat the key to their win was their outside shooting....yeah you had James breaking guys down on the dribble ...but kicking out and making shots was the key.

IMO Right now we are just like a hockey team thats plays a trap with no natural scorers/shooters. Sure defence will keep you in games but you do have to score more points then you opposition.

I'm sure somone will be brought in. Hopefully it's not a scrub, but a proven shooter.

BC and DC both have stated they need 3 pt shooting and they would like it from the SF spot - thats one of the criteria's they are looking for....vet, 3 pt shooting, top tier defender. One of the big reasons there is a whole thread on Gay vs AI vs drafting.

Also, if we signed Nash or traded for Lowry then that's another threat.

William Buford from Ohio Sate. He should be there for the 2nd round pick.

we need constant 3 point threat, throughout the game. You really think the guy should play 35 m+?

Trade for Lowry, overpay Batum to get him away from Portland.

That makes Lowry (.374), Batum (.391) and Bargnani (.365 career) our floor spreaders.

If we can get our hands on a shooter through the draft and maybe sign a player already in the league we could compete for a playoff spot next year.
Unsure if the following players would be available but IMO guys like Jason Terry,Randy Foye, Steve Novak,or Shannon Brown could really help us out.

Lowry can shoot the ball, Nash can shoot the ball, Iggy can shoot the ball and Gay can. Upgrade at the PG + SF with players that can shoot the ball and maybe even add a vet off the bench that can shoot as well. There are options by the looks of it.

I know he's being linked to Miami, but I said that FA target for this team (if they acquire a 3 and Lowry et al) would be Ray Allen to play that Dell Curry roll. He'd fit right in with Casey's system and wouldn't be used as strictly a bit part.

I didn't know you said that. Seriously, why would Ray come here when he can end his career as a champion? Maybe a couple more? Ray is a different cat, he's his own agent and wants to end as a winner not a teacher.

On multiple occasions he's mentioned his interest in Toronto and playing here. IF this team adds pieces it could be a playoff team and who knows. I haven't read any quote where he says he wants to end as a champion. If I did read that, I would've likely not have wrote it.

That being said, he's in a teaching role regardless of where he goes, whether he likes it or not.

Well, we still got Kleiza. He played trough the injury whole last season, he had good games, bad games. I really think we should see in the start of the season how he will do, will his FG% increase or not. What I'm saying we shouldn't rush and make mistakes. But yeah, if we can sign someone like Rudy Gay, it wouldn't be a mistake, otherwise, I'd say, let's wait

Do i really have to explain myself?

No shit hes not going to be a starter or playing anywhere close to the starters minutes. He is going to be coming off the bench for about 20 minutes, in which time he will be a consistent threat from the perimeter. Hes also got a soft touch around the rim.

Let me give you an example of a guy in the nba right now k?

Kyle Korver. Hes been one of the best 3 point shooter in the past few years. Hes a bench player but he can dramatically effect the game because of his skill set, especially for a team like the bulls who are so offense deprived.

Oh and Steve Novak last season for the knicks. All he did was jack up 3's and make it. We could use someone like him.

We just need someone who is a deep threat to keep the defense honest. Doesn't have to be 48 minutes, because there aren't too many Kevin Durants out there.
