Default The 2nd Unit

I've been meaning to start this thread for awhile now ...

The 2nd unit... Why does it seem like they are always bringing this team back in the game? Doesn't it seem like that?

What do you guys think it is.

1) Jose Calderon leading the 2nd Unit ("Young Guns")?

2) Raptors bench/2nd unit just better then the other teams? Our Depth?

3) Combination of leaving 1-2 starters (Bargs/Turk) on the floor then switching to give Bosh a rest and bringing Bargs back on the floor?

4) Other?

There is no reason for a team to have its 2nd unit out playing the starters through the first half of the game just to keep them in it.

Better defense. More energy. Better ball movement.

OTHER...

The bench has 100% less Hedo Turkoglu than the starters. That's why they seem to be coming back.

Hedo was horrible tonight but really does that explain all the comebacks after a slow start by this team thus far into this season?

I think i've watched almost every game live on tv (minus 2 or 3 that I PVR'd), but I've seen this 2nd unit bring these "Starters" back in the game way WAY to often.

If anyone know's where to find a stat that shows which teams 2nd unit ranking i'd love to see it.

Seriously our bench is just too awesome. If one bench guy ain't in the zone another one is. I love our bench and if we didn't have them tonight we woulda got massacered(sp)

So maybe our Bench isn't the shake up that we need by the deadline tommarow. Or atleast a lineup change.

Maybe its someone on our bench that needs to be traded for a new starter?

New Starting 2 or 3?

2nd unit kept us in this game. Jose was awesome, we still wanna get rid of him? Anyways, I think that hedo 3 late in the 4th quater right after wright left the game was not needed, it started run for the Griz. Common Hedo!!

2nd unit tends to always keep us in the game.

This is the flaw that i dont get...

Why do the starters start off slow or non existent and it's the 2nd unit that has to keep us competitive?

Wow can you guys imagine we had the same 2nd unit as last season?

Starter are so slow compared to our bench lol. Jose defiinitely pushes the ball much more now instead of dribble dribble stop at top of three pass and repeat lol. Sunny played great too.

I think its best to bench Demar right about now and let him come in with the 2nd unit; we need one more people or maybe 2 more to upgrade our starting unit. I say start Wright over Demar and see how it goes? Btw will we know tomorrow if will get anyone?

Where have you Been? Watching games on TV with selective vision?

Perhaps your selective vision, and watching only what the camera shows you on TV...is misleading you?

I have watched all the games except for two; live at the ACC. You can see everything that happens on the court. Sad to say, in most every game - Turk just drags his feet, jogging with a body language that reads dis-interested, passionless......no effort and just going thru the motion. I am season ticket holder, and all the people around our seats have a name for Turk - Mr. On-Court Spectator!. When he shoots, we all moan because he likely misses with a long rebound which set up the other team for a break out. When he catches the ball, we all know it will stick and kill the flow of the game. Tonight - like most every game, he live up to his new name we gave him - Mr. On Court Spectator!

Call me a hater if you like - I just call it the way I see it. This man is a major mistake signing... potentially a cancer to this team. However he preforms in the remaining games; will not make up for over 50 games of poor performance... by poor I mean he should be at the end of the bench making minimum salary!

It is hard to see the Raptors having any fewer wins than they have now if Turkoglu was not on the roster. It would be interesting to go back in time to see if they would have more wins without him.

The sad thing is that in the playoffs, deep benches mean very little because teams tend to run a tight 8-man rotation at MOST. Sadly, even though we are deep, we do not have significant amount of REALLY talented players that will help us get very far in the playoffs.
