Default 20th

I thought I'd start a post where everyone gets one guess on who we will be getting with the 20th pick.

I am reaching a bit, but I would LOVE to see K.J. McDaniels here, so that's who I am choosing. :mattyd:

I think he is going to be a monster.

I'd also love McDaniels or Capela, but my prayer is Ennis falling to us.

Another reason not to pick Ennis. Unless MU believes Lowry won't re-sign

Yeah, I am not so high on Ennis and I love our 2pgs we have right now.

My second choice would be Glenn Robinson III. I definitely think we need to get help for Ross.

I would take McDaniels as well. Solid defender and rebounder. He's the second coming of James Johnson minus the drama.

I wonder if someone like Harris falls, don't hear much about his stock.

I'd take Capela with that 20th pick.

I'd really like it to be Adreain Payne but my gut feeling is Ennis.

http://sports.nationalpost.com/2014/...with-20th-pick

Eric Koreen has written this:

"the Raptors will look at players such as UCLA forward Kyle Anderson, Syracuse guard Tyler Ennis, Swiss big man Clint Capela, Clemson swingman K.J. McDaniels and Tennessee forward Jarnell Stokes, among others"

I like any of them

I'd like pain, but I haven't heard a lot of of good about em around here and other places.

So Ennis or Capela.

I was on board with drafting Payne if he was available until recently when I learned that he has health issues and is unlikely to ever be able to play 30+ minutes consistently. We should be trying to draft a player with either a lot of upside(Capela), or someone who has a proven skillset who may one day become a starter if developed correctly(Ennis). I don't like the idea of settling for a role player with the 20th pick in such a deep draft.

I want nothing to do with KJ McDaniels at 20. Too long a project for us right now. I would think its Ennis, Anderson, Payton, Payne or Napier. But I think Ennis is the one that falls through.

Most of those players are projects

McDaniels is the least projecty of those players. He comes in with an immediate skillset (defense and rebounding) so he can contribute right away, and will get better offensively with time.

Anderson could easily be entirely useless (both right away and forever), Payton can't shoot to save his life (and will struggle more right away since PG is tough to pick up for a young player), Payne can't stay on the court for more than 25 minutes and Napier is just going to be bad - please no. Ennis will also struggle, although his performance in college suggests he'll be OK running a team right away.

In any case, I could care less who is more NBA ready now. The important thing is to have the best player 2-3 years from now. And IMO your entire list (outside of Ennis) is going to be awful. McDaniels, Ennis, Capela - these guys will be starters a few years from now and could develop into more than that with time.

It's gonna be Ennis or Capela. If Ennis is on the board and MU doesn't take him, the reaction will be very negative imo (unless someone predicted to go earlier falls to us).

Thing is, who really cares about the reaction? If he determines that Ennis isn't good enough to be picked if he's still there, then so be it. Fans should get that, despite his being Canadian, which doesn't really matter besides the marketing side of things. Our only aim should be to get better and to win more games next year, and as much as I like Ennis, I won't be mad if we don't select him if he's there.

I think all of us will be more angry in 3 years when our pick doesn't turn out to be the best guy available from 20-60 and we're all going to bad mouth Masai in 2016 when it turns out that a guy like Jordan Adams, as some posters claim that they were super high on a guy like Adams(just as an example) and that Masai is an idiot for not choosing him. We're all Monday morning quarterbacks in that sense.

I have faith in Masai to make the best pick though, whoever it is. I'm lowest on Kyle Anderson, but if we take him, I'll give him a chance obviously.
