Why not? A lot of people have high hopes for DeRozan, so comparing him to anyone shouldn't be out of the question. People compare him to Kobe when he first got into the league.. so Wade isn't totally out of the question.

Hes compared to a lot of people. I am saying Kobe because I saw in an interview Triano was comparing him to Kobe when he first came into the league, and that is a good comparison.

does Bargnani get an F then for being compared to dirk? and add to the fact that he's regressed.

and a lot of people have high hopes for him NOW. after seeing what he did in his 2nd year and the jump he made. people are excited about what kind of jump he'll make in his 3rd year and with great optimism. and the kobe comparisions really started this year. people comparing kobes 2nd year stats to demars 2nd year stats.

I'd give him a B+/A-. He definitely improved a lot offensively. He usually knocks down an open jump shot and still drives to the basketball. I like how he is still shooting a great percentage to get his career high in points.

He didn't show a lot of improvement in his defence and 3-point shooting. If he's able to get those down, I think he is worthy of being an all-star.

A. Really improved from his rookie year to his second year and is now the face of the franchise and ready to take the next step it seems like. Great year and the 2nd half of the year was really really good.

I do not know how you can give him an A across the board, maybe from progress wise but overall he is a Solid B, even though he has surpassed the expectations we had of him in his second year give him time to grow, the moment he starts slumping u will all go Bargnani on his ass.

He needs to improve on his Defense, Three Point Shooting, Ball Handling, and Decision Making, there are way to many holes still to warrant him an A, but next year we will see and judge him accordingly if he does improve on those aspects of his game.

Offensively he improved a ton, but he was kind of forced to as he had to step up as the second leading scorer with Bosh gone, hopefully this season our offence runs through him over Bargnani i think he can carry the load, especially since he's a gym rat and always working on his shot

he did get more blocks/steals but he still needs to improve in that aspect, as well as his man to man d, he has all the tools to be a solid defender - hopefully coach Casey will bring that out of him

as for his 3 point shooting.. we all know he needs to improve, even if he can be in the 30-36% range that would at least force the d to not play off him when he's at the 3 point line

gave him a B

I voted B, but it's a high B. Great strides this year on offense - especially late in the year. He still settled a bit too much, relying on his jumper a little more than his drive, which led to his middling FG%. Hopefully see some big improvements next season.

His defense still needs work, but it certainly isn't awful. Still, my grade comes down to about an A- for his offensive improvement and about a B for his defense.

Very solid all around season for Demar! Very excited to see what he can do whenever next season starts up!

First of all he was drafted only No.9 in the draft. Alot of analysts said he had the most potential in the draft, but how many players had the most potential but never realized it. Give credit when its due with all the hard work Derozan put in the gym, and the progression we see on the floor. However, using Kobe and Wade can be used a benchmark on how you rank amongst the best shooting guards in the NBA. However, using these 2 players to grade Derozan as a player is stupid. Each player has his strenghths, skills, and physical limitations. Its how best you use your own physical skillset that we should grade our players. If I'm grading Morris Peterson as a Raptor, I'm not evaluating him by comparing his stats with the accomplishments of Vince Carter. Comparing Derozan to the best players is a ranking method, not an evaluation tool.

I gave him a B also, and that is a great grade for him..
he showed improvement, and more confidence.. if he had more assist and a 3pt shot, then I would give him a A, that is no knock against DD, with his work ethic I am pretty sure an A+ is coming very soon

but overall I am very impressed with his development, in his first year I saw signs and potential, but didn't really know what to expect because his role was so limited.. after this past season I believe DD is on his way to becoming a real good player

and his ball handling is not that bad, you guys make it seem as tho he has mo pee handles lol..
it's really just a matter of confidence and getting stronger with the ball

earlier in the season he did the spin move to get to the rim, then when teams scouted that move, he adjusted..

if you look at his high school mix tapes on you tube he displayed allot of handles, putting the ball through his legs etc.. yea it was just against high school level of play, but he did it because he was confident, if he could apply that same level of confidence, along with getting stronger and continued work on his ball handling he will be fine

i give a solid B+
i would only give an A if he were now an allstar, A+ if he were a superstar

i like his significant improvement from last season, he has developed a consistent mid range jumper and still attacks the basket as much as he can, good work ethic

his defense needs a lot of work, can't shoot a 3 for his life, overall his offensive game is like tunnel vision, he gets the ball and he rarely passes, cannot "take over" games yet and at times is very streaky, when his offense is not on he is kind of a non-factor
this is not really basketball related but i don't really like his close friendship with sonny, i feel it enters during the game and has a negative effect, and i feel demar is learning more from sonny than sonny is from him, which are all negative things

all the people saying you can't give him an A or A+ because he's not the complete player yet are missing the point aren't they? It's a report card for the season 10-11 isn't it? Things like starting expectations and overall improvement are the factors in making the decision i would argue. Wouldn't Derozan get a better report card then bryant for 10-11? Kobe had a good season but fell short of expectations. would prob give him a B- or C+?

I would still only give derozan a B because my rating would be B+ or maybe A-.

He improved many aspects of his game and i loved watching it happen. that 2nd half of the season when he just started knocking down mid-range jumpers for fun was amazing for me.

I also think we might be undervaluing things like personality and excitement factor. I want a winning team and players who play the game the right way, but demar's professionalism, image and the excitement he brings are all important for me. He also helped the club's profile by appearing in the rookie sophmore game and the dunk contest. Oh and the london games (which i attended!) where he played great and was a credit to the raps.

ethic work: A+
Team spirit : A
improvement from year 1 : A+
Offense : A +
defense : C

but i say last year he will put 15 ppg, and i was under, so i think that put him ahead off what i tough i will be.

one regret is he don't share enough the ball, and with his abilities to penetrate i think i can become a great 4-5apg.
the defense need to be adress, like all the team, so i think casey will put in place some system, where DD will improve his number as rebound and block.

so a legit A- (he is not a star yet who can win a game, not enough confidence to take a game over)
my favorite player, and one who will count in the future for sure.
