2010-11 RF Player Report Card - Linas Kleiza

Next up in our 2010-11 RF Player Report Cards:

Linas Kleiza

Injured for the majority of the season. He had plenty of decent games for the raps early on, but struggled from the outside and couldn’t really play much PF because of our logjam at that position. He might have been our best post player at one point, but we never really used him that way. He’ll be out of commission for a good chunk of next year as well, so he’s really earning that big contract.

I never got a good sense of what his role was, outside of that it was meant to expand on any role he had in the past, at least at the NBA level. And he never looked entirely comfortable, which took away from some of his natural strengths such as facilitating and shooting from long range. It's possible that he's simply a bad fit, and with him needing to sit with an injury for a good chunk of next season, it's going to be hard for him to find his proper place on this team.

My expectations were too high. And so were Kleiza's. His year in Europe inflated his ego to solid contributor status, when in fact, he's a role player. When healthy, just stand in the corner on offense, and for the love of god, do not, DO NOT dribble the ball.

he looked REALLY good in preseason. and then the games starting to count....
Hopefully he gets back to 100% within the next 2 years (frankly i don't care about next season) and hopefully a healthy Linas can improve our team. It was obvious that an unhealthy one could not.

He looked good in a suit.

I gave him an A.

js12 07-21-2011 08:58 AM

I gave him a D. He did preform to expectations at all, and part of it was because of injury. If all the reports were right, the only game when he was healthy to go was the preseason game when he dropped 20 on the Celtics.

Insider's analysis is spot on :cookie:

He never had a chance to show anything - he was hurt the whole time. So, he neither exceeded, fell short of, nor met expectations. I guess that means a C.

PerFex 07-21-2011 09:04 AM

I give him A. :cookie:

He was injured from the first game of pre-season. He didn't play well but everyone was witnessing an injured player... and to have microfracture surgery means it was a serious injury. Some players get commended for playing hurt, even when their numbers aren't so good, Kleiza seems to have been ridiculed.

Linas does need to lose some weight in order to play SF in the NBA. He also needs to play a little more under control, you can't fault the injury for bad decisions, too much dribbling and having trouble catching the ball.

Majority of his attempts to drive the lane were............FAIL

Wut?

Seems appropriate.

Dark Knight 07-21-2011 12:00 PM

He was good in that one pre-season game.

jeffb 07-21-2011 12:03 PM

C

Every game he played, he was hurt and still had his moments. Really wish he didn't get hurt in exhibition play. Certainly think he would have helped greatly imo.

LOG 07-21-2011 07:20 PM

C he had some bad games, because of the injury which hurt his confidence and from there its downhill. I know that every Lithuanian on this forum says the same thing, but he can reeeaaly play much better than that :toot:

MARTYNAS 07-21-2011 07:54 PM

Linas was super slow last year. I was like, whats wrong with him, but it looks it was because of the injury? He also was a bad fit. Raptors for some reason forced him dribble the ball and shoot 3s, and he can't do that well.
He can be better for sure, But Still, Linas is very inconsistent. IMO he can be valuable 14.5 ppg player, nothing else.

Incomplete needs to be in the poll

Agree 100 %. He was injured all season after WC.

Everyone thinking he is bad player, but in this season (if lockout end quickly) all will see.

18ppg? How is that happening? Hes inconsistent NBA tweener, get real. Kleiza is versatile player, but he isn't great at anything. Good post player, but not great, good shooter, but far from great, all right off the dribble, but has very hard times to create his own shot, and he also has rusty hands. And he was always a hothead. How hes getting his 18 points every night? Not mentioned Linas coming back after serious injury, Im sure its not gonna help to him.

I like Kleiza, but man I hate blind fanboys. You, OP13 and PerFex gave him an A... Why...?
