The entire team's poor defense is not solely on Bargs but everyone, players and coaches a like. I'm a fan of Bargs and his skillset and am frustrated by his play as anyone. I expect better this year; new coach, defensive schemes, expectations/accountability - this truly is Bargs' last chance to put it together or he'll have to sneak out of town in the middle of the night. For this year, C.
The most noticeable aspect to his rookie year that I connect to his success then, is the limited minutes and the limited role, as well as being firmly held accountable. His decline since then is pretty much all on him. I don't understand why he gets one more one last chance. And we know that if he gets one more last chance that the argument will be to give him yet one more last chance. When a guy is in year five and offers help defense by standing directly behind the primary defender, essentially limiting his own guy's movement and so setting a pick of sorts on his own guy, and he does such things consistently, I just have to think the chances have run out and then some already.

At what rate? If you say that when he's on the floor we win, must mean we're doing good then?

I love stirring the pot. Lmao

Seriously though, there is way too much venom for Bargs - the kid's got skills. He only gets paid 9 mil and for what he brings that's a bargain. Now that we have a defensive coach with experience creating defensive schemes for offensive 7'ers with weak defensive (yes that's dirk) I have high hopes. Those hopes have sky rocketed after watching JV play at the U19 and dominating that tourney - seriously, I posted before I wanted JV never thought he get past the Cavs at #4. 2x7' footers in the frontcourt will be great - JV/Bargs is a better complimentary pairing that JV/Davis - that opinion may change if the Raps had a dynamic offensive talent playing SF but we don't so Bargs range is needed.

That's hilarious, and yes, I have high expectations of Bargs this coming year.

I think it depends on how you are grading these players.

Some people(like myself) are grading on expectations coming into the year. For Bargnani they were a lot higher so he better do a lot to get a higher grade. For Davis a rookie, 13th pick, coming off a injury, they were a lot lower going into the year.

Hmmmmm, let 's see. Ed Davis is shorter, 30lbs lighter and in his rookie season in which he misses training camp and the first six weeks of the season averaged more rpg, blks and got 11 more double doubles then Bargnani who was in his 5th season, all while playing 12mpg less. Plus is already a better smarter defender. And the argument that Bargnani plays out of position seems to smell more every time I hear it. He still plays where he wants on offense, 25ft from the rim and guards 4's most of the time. And very poorly might I add. If we were grading Bargnani in his rookie season he would have got A's as well. Unfortunately, it's been mostly downhill from there for Bargnani other then offense. I think the world is fucked up, but in this instance I understand it just fine. We grade people a lot more harshly in their 5th year then in their 1st.

If his shot isn't falling, he is useless. An inconsistent, lazy/out of shape gun. Talents to be a 2nd tier all-star, mental focus of a middle school bench player. Everything in life comes down to choice, and he chooses when to suck and when to be unstoppable.

C-

I'd give an even lower grade except he did have to deal with a bigger role. He didn't completely shit the bed. By the end of the season, though, there was a serious "Dutch oven" going on under the covers.

5.2 rebounds? We're talking about 5.2 rebounds? *Allen Iverson voice*

(A)
He took over for Chris Bosh. Not easy shoes to fill. 21ppg is very good. Needs to work on other things besides scoring, but Bargs easily should be ranked high in the most improved player voting.

he can't get an A with defense like that
he only took over for Chris Bosh offensively, its not like Bosh ever played defense either
you can't give a 1 way player an A

Anyone giving Bargnani an A obviously didn't watch him much this past season. Either that or they care little about anything other then Offense.

Even then, he should get a B at most.
