I know its early but who do you see the raps targeting with the 17th selection?
Any preferences? Positions? Personally i think we need a legitimate scoring wingman, even if its a little bit of a project...think Thadeus Young type for the 76ers, secondary need who than be bruiser or center prospect. Possibilities (Baring signing with agents) - Donte Green - Joe Alexander - Chase Budinger - Robin Lopez - Kosta Koufas - Roy Hibbert - Javale McGee I like Green personally definitely needs some major development, mainly mentally but has all the tools, may not be available, but most mock drafts have him projected around 17. We can than start him behind Moon until he pans out... I'd love to see us go after an aggressive guard tho, and i love Westbrook's athleticism but he'll be off the board by our pick |

At the 17th slot who do you suggest is worthwhile and not a project?
This team is not one fringe player away from contention, a project...someone who will develop into something within the next 2 years seems to fit the peak of this team as we're waiting on Bargnani. A developing player beats a fringe player on a team needing primary scoring... |

Welcome the RF Josh!
![]() I'd say if we aren't trading the pick away then I like a Green or Alexander. I love Alexander because he atheltic, strong and isn't afraid of getting physical. For his size too he'll be a great rebounder too. ![]() Green because he's got a ton of potential. Very, very athletic who moves extremely well. Awesome shot blocker and decent on defense. He just needs to beef up a bit because he'd get thrown around at the weight he is now. ![]() |

I think Green could be a very good player - especially with his size. The other guys I like are Robin Lopez and if he falls to us - Nic Batum

Robin is a MUCH better defender and better rebounder. He moves better than Brook. The only thing Brook has over Robin are his offensive moves.

Not every year..don't be silly. Did Orlando rebuild this year? No..they added key pieces. Did New Orleans rebuild this year? No they added key pieces and got healthy. He's saying don't blow the whole thing up..just tinker but tinker more than last year and I agree.

they will next year, imo, horford is a beast! we dont realy need a project tho, i agree, we need rebounding, and toughness. if we cant draft that, we should wash this pick with a trade. i expect to see some kind of deal draft day, im smellin lac. that's for another thread tho, so i wont go there. |

See i'm not so high on this team. When they shoot well they can beat anybody in the league, but their lack of consistent interior scoring, defense, and rebounding is so apparent. Honestly i attribute it to a lack of athleticism. Other than Bosh (who is undersized forcing him to rely on scoring outside to often) , Bargnani (who plays outside, and is to pussy to mix it up on the boards) Ford (is too small and gets abused against taller guards...Chauncey always dominates TJ) and Moon our team is severely lacking athletically.
This is a need that can be addressed in the Draft, i don't see the additions Colangelo making, considering cap restrictions, and a lack of trade able personnel making a huge impact. If you can package the pick for a legitimate scorer/rebounder, im all for it, just see as being unlikely...plus players with potential can be traded later on, at dealine, for more than they are worth (javaris crittenton, and Kwame's contract for Gasol) Last edited by Joshz; 05-10-2008 at 10:54 AM. |
